After some rock crawling, my underbody and skid plates have some decent scrapes on them. What do you recommend for re-painting the scraped areas to prevent rust? Rustoleum with zinc? Engine block paint? Thanks!

Make sure it's clean, treat any existing rust with a rust converter like Extend or Eastwood rust converter (not encapsulater) prime with a self-etching primer, and I use VHT SP652 epoxy paint (spray can). It's a good match for chassis black. I painted my lower control arms with it.
I've also used it on the door locks of my SX4, and the skid plates under that car.

There will be a lot of other decent ideas mentioned as well - those are my ways based on keeping my cars and other stuff up to snuff and show ready.

I'd consider just leaving them alone, it adds character.
As well as proof it's been driven?

What the Iowa Highway Patrol did was to drive their cars through the medians often enough rust either couldn't form or got brushed off every couple of days. I loved working on those cars - you never got dirty, but now and then you did have to put a muffler or converter back on - those dang concrete culverts were a quick way to rip off exhaust parts.

I try to fight the rust and keep things reasonably clean, but it is a truck and it gets used.
I just want to prevent premature aging. Every time I buy one, I tell myself, it's the last one I'll ever own - and then I go out 2 or 3 years later and trade again.
One of these days, it will be the last one.......
