Only 10 days until my Yellowstone trip with my son in the Gladiator!!
#JTRSPARTACUS
This will be a mix of road-trip, light offroading, camping and bucket list adventure. Camping near Mt Rushmore, camping in Custer Gallatin NF, 3 nights in Yellowstone, Fly Fishing in Montana and Dune Buggies in Idaho. Some stats - 2 baseball parks, 14 states, over 4,400 miles.

Where did you get that slider? I am headed out there myself. Leaving Florida on the 26th. Headed to Colorado to do the upper portion of the Shadow of the Rockies trail from Crested Butte to Baggs, WY. Then meeting some friends in Island Park, ID for a 5 day horse back trip into Yellowstone at the Bechler Ranger station area. And of course, fly fishing along the way. How long are you out there for?

Then meeting some friends in Island Park, ID for a 5 day horse back trip into Yellowstone at the Bechler Ranger station area. And of course, fly fishing along the way. here’s my plan. We’ll see how it goes. I only got a Montana 5 day fishing license and we are just going to fishing access areas. No guides - not really a fly fisherman but we’ll see where it leads.

7/23 Cincinnati Reds game
7/24 John Deere museum and camping in Iowa
7/25 camping in Nebraska
7/26 camping in South Dakota and Mt Rushmore
7/27 camping in Montana - Custer Gallatin NF
7/28-7/31 stay in hotel in Yellowstone
7/31- 8/3 stay in house in the Gardiner Montana area and fly fish
8/3-8/5 stay in a house in the Victor Idaho and dune buggies
8/5camp in Montana Custer Gallatin - fish
8/6 camp in North Dakota
8/7 hotel in Minnesota
8/8-8/9 Milwaukee for Harley Museum and then camp in Northern Ohio
8/9 return home to Pennsylvania

you’ll notice some zig zagging. I’m trying to spend a night in all 50 states by the time I am 50. I need Nebraska, Montana, Idaho, and North Dakota to leave me with only 4 states to get to (Oregon, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma)

If you haven't been to them: Badlands National Park, Sheep Mountain Road just outside of the Badlands, Needles Hiway, Black Hills National Forest area, Custer SD had some really cool painted Bison. Devil's Tower is not too far out of the way if possible.

Thanks. Definitely trying to hit many of these. Really depends on traffic, time, weather.

I concur with OMTBiker Badlands are beautiful and Needles hi way is very cool.
Yellowstone & Devils tower are fascinating.

update: moving down to Shoshone NF campground in Wyoming on 7/27 to be away from the flood damage and be closer to the East Gate - originally planned to come in the Yellowstone via North East entrance and drive through Lamar Valley but might not be able see Lamar now. Staying flexible ...

The flood did a number in Yellowstone. Seen some drone footage. A lot of the roads are washed out. When you get out there. Some of the roads may or may not be repaired. So you might have to change your travel some. Friends out there say it will take a decade to fix all the roads.

Sounds like an awesome trip. I'll be doing a mini trek up to Maine and making a few stops on the way back to PA with my son in 2 weeks.
I'll be following this thread because my GF and I would love to take a trip to the PNW some day. Enjoy!
