So as I plan on what to do to/with my Jeep, as it is my first one I am trying to learn every aspect that I can to the vehicle.
My current max payload is 1544lbs. That is without adding anything/one to it.
I added a set of rock rails. They are listed as 33lbs each, so 66lbs together
I added a...
I picked up a set of rims off of a Gladiator (5 for $140) on the used market and am now trying to see what tires to put on them.
Max tire size will be 35”. So I should look for 35x12.5x17 tires?
These tires will be for some light off roading, and snow conditions on mountain roads here in KY...
So I have been reading up on having larger tires put in. I am thinking of getting 35s for my Gladiator Sport S with Max Tow Package. I came across a few things that I would like some help and clarification on.
When you change your tire size, you change the performance of the vehicle...
I put on some rockrails that were takeoffs from a Rubicon Gladiator. They fit well and went on easy. I noticed there were some hols on the side facing the pavement that look like something could be mounted, like steps. I would post pictures but dont know how and havent uploaded them to a 3rd...
In the off-roading vids I have seen everyone goes so slow. I get you literally crawl over rocks, but why go slow over a rutted or dirt road? Buggies go fast and bounce around, why not Jeeps? Pardon my ignorance, please
So when I bought my Gladiator I called my insurance company and added it before the ink was dry. Policy wasn't raised by much (though I have heard for some it increased greatly). Not wanting to assume it was just because I was adding a bought-new car to the policy, I looked at the details...
I read that the gears should be something like 0-30 1st gear, 30-60 2nd gear, and to 100 for the 3rd (See MotorTrend comparison with Ford Ranger)
This is different than the speeds, right? The D1, D2, ... D8.
I notice that the Jeep spends the VAST majority of the time in D8, like from 30mph to...
What should I expect to be the real ability of a stock Gladiator Sport? No lift, no large tires, just a fresh of the lot 8-speed Jeep. Maybe include how the 4.10 axel would affect performance off-road.
Basically, provide some scenarios, pics of trails, or environments that I can safely go...
So I dont currently need rock rails and while I could use side steps for my shorter family members to climb into the Gladiator, I dont like how low they go. Also the $600-800 is too much for me right now
But I do want to protect the metal that is hanging under the door where rails and steps...
I have recently purchased a Sport S Max Tow, and have been searching for information on tire upgrades. I wouldnt make this thread if the other threads here were not clear enough for me (not bashing the contributors to those threads, I am just very new to the Jeep/non-stock tire world)
Can I put...
I am no longer seeing the Max Tow Package available on the Jeep building tool. Neither is the 4.10 axel an option, except as standard on the Rubicon. Both the mobile site and desktop site have it that way
Any news on this?
ETA: still available on the Sport model. But isnt the Sport S just the...
