When I went looking a couple of months ago, there were lots of used JT's in the $40-50k range available. Plenty that had from 2k miles to 20k miles on them. I did find that kinda strange. But my goal was to find a good used one. A bunch of the used ones were sports, willy's, overlands, etc...
I can't speak to your particular area or USFS office, but I can say that in the CA forest areas, there were huge amounts of people speaking up, lobbying for trails, etc., and the most that got involved, the more trails were lost. It would have been better that they had never got involved in the...
I applaud your efforts, but this is almost like a reoccurring bad dream for me. I didn't read it all though. Too much, and even if I had the time, I cannot support it. I hate to be pessimistic, but in previous Nat Forest and USFS "trail management" issues that I have been party to, the FS...
Nothing too exciting for me today, but the WIFE was ecstatic. Part of the Gladiator deal was/is being able to load 10 footer kayak's into the back. Successful run for her today. She was loving it!! Happy wife - Happy life. :)

I'll second the lower pressure for smoother ride comments. Also, it's 100% reversible, easy, and free. Can't get better than that. Personally, I wouldn't be doing a lift for smoother ride. It would be for larger tire clearance and to reduce possible body damage in the rocks.
Yup. For the trail rails in putting in a Terraflex Uinta bedrail system, the holes were M6x1.0. Some had a TON of crap in em. Definitely had to work the tap in and out a few times to clear it. Also, thread cutting oil (or really any oil) was helpful cleaning them out.
