Nothing too exciting for me today, but the WIFE was ecstatic. Part of the Gladiator deal was/is being able to load 10 footer kayak's into the back. Successful run for her today. She was loving it!! Happy wife - Happy life.

It's a new old stock Mombasa. The one with a crappy steel ladder. I had an ARB Simpson II quite some years ago. This is not as well built as that but fine for how often I will use it.

Thoughts: decent but I wouldn't seek this particular model out. I am not one that likes to camp much. This keeps my bedding in the tent. I throw a sleeping bag and some fresh clothes in each night after deploying the tent. Tent deploys in about 3-5 minutes. Steel ladder takes about 2-3 minutes itself.

The bad thing about the roof top tent is you have to break camp every morning. The good thing is I can have it buttoned up in about 5-6 minutes including stuffing my sleeping bag into its stuff bag.

Rooftop tents suck to trail ride with. Overhanging branches or rock out croppingsneed to be accounted for.

I made the rack lower than mycab to hopefully mitigate that issue? I also have the tent on a rack that just sits in my garage and I manhandle it into the bed. Not to bad to deal with. Maybe 125-150 lbs? I use turn buckles from a camper to to secure the rack to the JT bed.

Hauled some gardening supplies for a couple of new raised beds were setting up, enjoyed another perfect day cruising some country roads in Virginia, caught supper in the front yard and enjoyed that.

I found that if I hooked the tailgate in the have closed position that the kayaks sat better.

Drove down to Chattanooga (600 miles)to do Jeep stuff with my cousin. We went to Tellico Plains, TN to drive the Cherohala Skyway trail in the Cherokee National Forest. Can’t tell in the photos but it was a 3600’ climb to the top. On the way down it ended up pouring pretty good. Reminded me of Jurassic Park driving thru the woods. Then we meet up with his Jeep club and went to the Tennessee Vally Jeep Rally in Evensville. Had a 50 Jeep convoy on the way. Was a great few days out there.

Hatton Ferry, near Scottsville, VA is the only human powered ferry still in operation in the USA.
It's an easy drive for us and we've been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get there and take the unique and historic ride across the James River.

The ride is free and the crew is super friendly and knowledgeable. They do graciously accept donations, which we were more than happy to oblige.

Me and my JT got to experience death wobble for the first time together ?

It was fine before the Fox 2.5 install and alignment. I had some bump steer before but that was it. Everything was torqued down too. Back to the shop next weekend I guess ?

Anyways, not trying to hijack this thread…just sharing lol. Before and after numbers below for informational purposes.

took a decent road trip for a little over 1700 miles ...
Day 1 - Lansdale, PA to Max Meadows, VA
Day 2 - Max Meadows, VA to Athens, GA for a pig roast at Omega Tau Sigma and G-Day spring game ... Go Dawgs!
Day 3-4 - in Athens doing stuff with family and helping my daughter buy a car
Day 5 - Athens, Ga to Carolina Shores, NC to visit more family
Day 6-8 - in Carolina Shores relaxing with plenty of good food and beverages
Day 9 - Carolina Shores, NC to Mount Joy, PA to pickup my crossbow with fresh string and cables then Mount Joy, PA back home to Lansdale, PA

Still surprised at how well the rig handles at highway speeds with the lift and 37s. Averaged a little over 16 mpg (still on the stock 4.10 gears) and had a thoroughly enjoyable trip. Unfortunately didn't have time to do any off road driving, but headed to camp next week for the start of Turkey season so at least I'll get to drive some fun forestry roads.
