I just had one other thought.
I believe the Rubicon springs are lighter than Sport springs. It would be good to confirm that.
Then get some big dollar adjustable shocks and figure out the tuning yourself. You would probably want to go light on compression damping and heavy on rebound...
Are there any aftermarket "desert racer" suspension packages?
Because again, what works at high speed off road is going to give you good body control and a good ride on-road.
I'm a total novice with Jeeps. But I rode motocross for about 10 years and got pretty good at riding something and...
I've got a Mojave and understand your situation.
I test drove a Sport - it was ok. But it was on street tires.
A Willys - the worst of them all the mudders were horrible and the suspension felt like it was designed in 1919.
Rubicon - better than the Willys but not sorted. It felt...
You may find that the best way to drive on the highway most of the time with those tires and that gearing is to move the AT into manual and just put it in 6th or 7th and leave it there.
I hate that they cheaped out on the hands free keyless entry.
My old car would unlock as you approached either the front or rear doors.
It also had locking buttons on the front and rear doors.
The Jeep only has these sensors and this switch on the front door. So if you are going into the...
I agree. No need to store the truck if it's your daily driver.
I have a home in a rural area and a home in a relatively urban area. If I just lived in the urban area, I wouldn't have the room for a trailer. So yes, storage is a factor for many.
As far as having lots of friends. I stress a...
The joys of a free market economy.
I like the RSi' Sport's large all glass windows better. I find that accessing the front of the bed from the large windows to be very useful.
I like the RSi's looks better.
I like the AluCab's structure and weight savings.
I started to tighten the nuts...
That's a common theme. I've got to say, Having lived with Tuxmats through last winter, I'll never buy WeatherTech again as long as they have one that fits my vehicle.
Not with the full time 4wd option. It's called Rock-Trac on the Rubicon.
In case anyone doesn't know, generally speaking CVJs are actually stronger and are less prone to catastrophic sudden failure. Though their boots are vulnerable to being ripped, that doesn't immediately lead to failure.
Before I had my Gladiator, my only way to haul things was with a high end lightweight utility trailer. It's all Galvanized and Aluminum with a 5x8 dimensions and a perfectly flat floor that was only about 16 inches off the ground.
It is superior to any truck when it comes to doing "trucky"...
I'm pretty sure the brakes are the same as Gladiator brakes.
They can't be any larger in diameter or they wouldn't fit in 17 inch wheels.
My Gladiator Mojave with XR wheels/tires:
What do you mean by maintenance?
I've had mine for 8 months and I haven't done anything so far other than spraying silicone into the locks.
Am I missing something??
The tow package on the Mojave isn't much.
The "upgraded cooling" is just a very slightly more powerful fan. I believe the alternator is also a small bit larger.
I did the research before I bought my Mojave, but don't remember all the details. The larger fan and alternator are also...
You guys are crazy to not consider TuxMat. The coverage is huge compared to Weathertech. They go all the way up the center tunnel and tuck under the center console trim.
I've been buying WeatherTech for 20 years and they don't even come close.
It would be a straight forward project to build a harness with a relay that turned off the lic plate lights when the reverse lights came on.
You could also apply a bit of black electrical tape to part of the plate lights to reduce glare on the rear camera.
Let me give you one more option.
Tuxmats.
They aren't as big as the big names, but for me they hit a sweet spot between the Jeep/weathertech and the armorlite.
TuxMats have enormous coverage. Much much more than anything other than ArmorLite. In fact about the only areas they don't cover...
Nobody mentioned it because it's tired and old.
But many of our comments, including mine, are 100% consistent with this law.
i.e. oversized tires and aftermarket suspension parts pretty much make a steering box and death wobble warranty claim impossible but have no impact on things like a...
