  1. It’s a sad day for my baby. I got rear ended by a Ford F-250. I don’t know what hurts more…

Obviously. There’s not that much flex in the bed without doin the frame. Ooh. But it’s behind the axle? That’s not really “frame” for the purposes of making it drive right. At least it was a rear collision. The only collision you can at least most of the time say was not at all your...
  2. It’s a sad day for my baby. I got rear ended by a Ford F-250. I don’t know what hurts more…

States don’t have anything to do with totaling a vehicle…. Maybe there’s some weird exception somewhere. Strictly a business decision by insurance. I’ve seen a lot less effed up trucks get totaled…. Frame involvement is usually a can of worms they don’t want to worry about.
  3. Weird Power Hiccup

Hot take bro. Coils fail…. All the frickin time. Like… all the time. Always all the time. Always called a hiccup. Been replacing bad coil packs since about 1994 ? Ever since they went multi coil packs on almost everything. just got “stranded” in the desert with 2 bad coils on a 21...
  4. Retrofitting Active Safety Group?

I had that stuff on my last couple vehicles. I don’t miss it on the Jeep. Kinda wish I had the emergency stop thing, but that requires a camera and the expensive windshield…. And man… you don’t want the expensive windshield. The camera stuff will cost ya a mint I’d expect. If it’s...
  5. Body color match dash inserts.

Not bad. I thought I’d hate it. I think I’d hate it in hydro blue or any of the bright colors. Thought it would look like an 80s hot rod. But it works.
  6. Fuel fill up issues

No trick in my state. I push in the nozzle, pull the handle and lock it. Fills up. Have no problem getting gas in there from a jerry can either. I’d guess you have some sort of filler neck/valve failure
  7. Rear locker light flashing?

Unlikely an actual problem with the locker. Pretty common failure…. Up until recently it meant “replace axle”. They have a repair kit now. The likely culprit is a failed position sensor wire. Which weren’t replaceable. There’s a kit if you’re out of warranty but I think you still have to...
  8. Weird Power Hiccup

Hiccups are almost, well are always, misfires, and almost always coils. But I wouldn’t put anything past the computer controls doing something new and exciting. They can go on for a long time without storing a code till they reach a threshold. Then you’ll likely get a flashing cel. The...
  9. Third brake light on Gladiator

I had it go out. Replaced under warranty…. Between mouthfuls of burrito my service writer said he was surprised it was included under 3/36. He thought it would go away with 12month. It’s not a light bulb. It’s a permanent feature. Love my dealer.
  10. Factory or Aftermarket

Factory is best for what factory is intended. Aftermarket companies are a crap shoot. And with Jeep stuff a set of step rails can cost you 200 lbs. a bumper will weigh 100 to three times that unless you go stubby or aluminum. Most of the aftermarket is junk. Which was fine when things...
  11. Following regear back up camera issues

Hmm random place to look…tailgate wiring have an intermittent ground? Those wires are just out there to get folded crushed and just generally flexed over and over. Other than that reverse switch. The way these computers wrk… it gets bad data it just stops listening.
  12. Gear Oil Weight Clarification

If you’re dealing with factory parts use factory indicated lubes. Anyone my age or older than me (and their protégées) that grew up on conventional oils and winter vs summer specs etc thinks they know some secret.
  13. It’s a sad day for my baby. I got rear ended by a Ford F-250. I don’t know what hurts more…

Never happens to the vehicles you want it to happen to.
  14. Sinister Diesel fined ONE MILLION DOLLARS

Yea that’s a pretty lame fine. Maybe they’re tiny. They hung the auto manufacturers out to dry. Anyone still dealing in soot should probably be incarcerated
  15. JT Pritchett Canyon Front Bumper

Thanks, that’s the stock I got. It’ll be close, but close is better than too much.
  16. JT Pritchett Canyon Front Bumper

Just ran into a possible issue with this. Bumper. You can’t replace the bolts. So since you need to space out the bumper a bit to get most winches in there, if it’s more than 1/4” or so, you’re SOL. Hopefully I’ll find enough room.
  17. What is an unpopular opinion you have in the Jeep community?

Unless you drive the Mojave. “Down” is relative.
  18. What is an unpopular opinion you have in the Jeep community?

No reason to get defensive… probably. You are correct you don’t grasp it at all.
  19. Noticed oil smoke on start up

I’m surprised at the reactions that people have thinking that a car company would expect you to buy another of their vehicles after deliberately sabotaging their reputation. Turns out, they don’t really care a whole lot about the 8+ year 150000 mile plus used market, but happy customers are...
  20. Noticed oil smoke on start up

I use a filter. But yea mine generally complain at 7000 or so and if I get one new I change it pretty soon after buying it.
