First trip with the truck from Bozeman -> Flagstaff via Moab, and picking up the OVRLND camper.
On the way south near Utah Lake:
On the way back north near Canyon of the Ancients (Cortez, CO), went through a crazy rain storm first night in the OVRLND, slept wonderfully:
Outside of Moab:
Really up to what you've done with your Gladiator and if it meets your needs. Sounds like it doesn't? Thing to think about swapping for a used vehicle is you don't know how bad it was treated in those miles. Especially comparing it to the miles on your vehicle, you know what you've done to your...
I think most tire places will mount wide tires to narrow rims, it's not a safety issue, the only issue is it causes faster or uneven wear since the tread surface will be more bowed at highway pressures. At least that's what a 4x4 specialty tire shop I trust told me.
I did land up getting the Ovrlnd over other topper+pop-ups for cold weather as well. Otherwise I would've gotten a GFC which are made about 6-7 miles away from my house.
I'm picking it up in a couple of weeks, but the owners are great for talking through builds. From Ovrlnd I got the arctic...
As a recovery rig for my LJ ;)
Actually that's partially serious, my modified Taco (DCLB) would've been challenged to get into a place that my lightly modified LJR would get stuck. My JTR has a much larger margin for error/challenge to recover the LJ than my Taco or F150 before that.
My JTR...
A hack, since I haven't seen a fork mount to fit a fatbike+QR skewer, I strap my forks to the trail rail and stick gloves over the ends of my forks. The rear and the loose front tires all get strapped to the side rail. So far it's been solid, even on rough roads and I fit 2 fatbikes plus a cargo...
I've been using Offroad+ in my Rubicon for off road snow-pack, we've been warm here and having lots of soft/wet snow on packed snow or mud. The Offroad+ with TC off has been working well. Mainly keeping the TC from cutting power on hills as well as turning the rear locker on in 4-HI. Many snowy...
We're finally getting some real winter weather in Montana, down to -10F today and -24F by tomorrow morning. Took the new rig out to find some drifts and test the locked rear in 4-high "hidden" feature (from another post), also see how good the 4-auto is on some snow packed/icy roads (so far...
Nothing too exciting yet for the new JTR, but added some JCR molle panels, my winch (Warn plate, Smittybilt X20), and (from past Wrangler experience) the all important dead pedal today.
Some of that is bad data, some is incomplete data. Did they regear? How many people are reporting MPG based on the trip computer without having done a reprogram for the different tire size and/or regear? Are there other mods that weigh the vehicle down? How heavy and fast rolling are the...
My 2 cents around the "I don't do heavy wheeling thoughts", I've had winches on all my 4x4s for ~25 years. I do a lot of snow, solo (rarely team up), severe roads, trails, etc and here's my experience:
The vast majority of my winch use has been "in town" or in the front-country to pull a...
I opted for having an extended + windshield replacement after having one on my Taco. The JT has a 7 yr/100,000 for $1900 with a $100 deductible.
For anyone looking into this, I would make sure you can cash out of the extended warranty at anytime. Any reputable extended warranty you can. I...
? to fatbiking Gladiator owners.
I haven't added a bedmat to my Gladiator yet, but loved having one in the composite bed of my Taco. It kept stuff from sliding around and was much nicer if you had to kneel, etc on it, much more comfortable.
I have a Sarge Green Rubicon showing up on the 14th supposedly. Got the VIN and sticker notice, but no shipping notice yet. Edit, picking it up Saturday
I never got the Fiat dig either. I've only had good experience with my Jeeps, but its not like Chrysler didn't ever produce junk on their own.
For the OP, my individual experience:
'88 XJ that I bought at 250K miles and ran until 300K on original I6 and auto-transmission: no break downs, lots...
