Well, I have been delinquent in posting my updates to my rig so here goes with what I have done so far and plan to do.
BuiltRight Velcro attached molle panels. Although I'm not sure what I am really going to do with these as I expect I will be doing a rear seat delete at some point soon...
Talkin Smak? A bit :) But realize my driver's license says Tennessee on it too. I actually reside just outside Memphis but need to remain in Colorado to sell a home and prevent teenage mutiny until they graduate from Highschool.
In my opinion Blizzaks are the best on highway snow tires I have ever used. I fully expect my Falken M/Ts to be near useless on snow packed paved roads but I will have to deal with them and drive accordingly. I need the MTs for hunting season which extends right up to Jan 7 for me this year.
While I have not driven with 37's I have some indirect comparison. I went wheeling with another member who had a JT Rubicon on 37's with the 2" Mopar. Driving up into the "mountains" I actually had to stomp on my accelerator to keep up with him. I never felt like my rig was superior to his in...
There's a "Mountain" in Tennessee? Where is that? I just spent the whole summer in TN but could barely discern any hills anywhere. Drove from Memphis to NC twice and still didn't see one... Oh, wait, I am from Colorado so shut up...
I have had the same issues multiple times and have narrowed down my problem to two things I do. First, if the door is not fully shut it will engage. Second, I am way too fast for the electronics. I jump in start and try to drive. I actually need to wait like 3-4 seconds and let all the...
That is the reason I did not go with their half boxes as well. I think they may be limiting on this size of truck. I also ordered the passenger side window more to be able to see out while driving but I believe it is going to be too small to provide that kind of visibility. I may well skip...
To test it you find the biggest hole. Tape a 4 inch long by 1/4 inch wide piece of toilet paper to the outside near the hole. Turn on your fan system and observe what is happening to the air flow. Works great unless you are driving... I've used this method in work (chemical fume hood...
Front sliding window. Solid driver side door. Sliding window on the passenger side. In the summer I suspect this will be insufficient for my dogs (Fall, Winter, Spring should be fine). I am rethinking having them in the back and will likely do a rear seat delete and have them in the cab...
I would agree that most dust gets sucked in due to dust I kick up when driving. If I am following someone on a dusty road the RLD vent will push that dust right in. Looking forward to see if they have any kind of filter capability.
And, when it is raining hugely and I did not have time to setup a tarp, I can do this easily as well (wild porcini's for dinner!). The tent ventilates well and does not suffer from instant melt down if it gets a spark from a fire on it (personal experience here...).
I have used many different tents including high end mountaineering tents (Bibler, Marmot, etc). But what I use nearly all the time for car camping is this 3 person canvas Springbar tent (www.kirkhams.com). I have had this specific tent since the mid 1980's. I likely have close to 400 nights...
Yes, dust fills everything. I plan to weather seal mine as much as I possibly can to minimize this. I have had several full sized and medium sized trucks with and without shells and there is way less dust in my junk using a shell than an open bed.
I have no idea how they create positive pressure. Air has to come from somewhere and without a filter you will suck in dust. If that feature has a filter and catches the air and forces it in then it makes sense.
