Yup, those square/vertical sides would be exponentially easier to build and aline with both the bed and top. Plus it gives it a little more of a dedicated 'Expo Look' instead of an SUV look.

I haven't need to do this on my Gladiator, but on my old FJ40, I did it all the time and highly recommend using a strap to hold it against the windshield frame if you are outside in case a gust of wind decides to try and close it on you. :surprised:

They are not so much to 'hold' the emblem in place, but to assure proper placement/alinement during the build process.
