Thanks for the feedback, I'll look it up.
Quick question: regarding the manual stating "fuel filters" (plural), is there more than just the one under the truck near the tank?
I still get free oil changes, so oil will be done at the dealer.
Excuse my language, but the Earth Roamers are effing stupid. They are are overpriced garden ornaments to impress the neighbors. But for anything else, they are actually worse than useless. You really can't take them offroad, they are way too big, top heavy, and due to the weight very fragile...
Hi all,
my EcoDiesel is due for a service and I'd like to do the super simple things myself, since at the dealership they are often ridiculously expensive for the amount of effort required.
Is there a good place to buy OEM (or better) fuel (diesel) and air filters for a decent price?
Thanks!
My main problem is that it’s plain not possible to have everything we might need in the one space. It’s like a partitioned hard drive: there is enough space, but neither partition has the right size for what you want to do.
We don’t need a larger vehicle, we need a single space. Unfortunately...
I will. Have to organize my thoughts and do a real write up of all the things that are great and those that aren’t.
But the biggest issue is conceptual and can’t be solved: the two separate spaces. There is always something in “the other space” and it gets really annoying when the weather...
So, back home after a looong trip … last night:
It was a very enlightening experience which I don’t care to repeat with this rig. There was a lot of good, but also glaring problems for someone like me, who likes things neat. Ah, decisions coming up …
My wife made the screen tent. It attaches with velcros and carabiners to the AluCab awning. It’s just super fine mosquito mesh and rip stop nylon, but was quite a lot of work to make.
The loadbars are Rhinorack, as are the shovel holders. All other attachment parts are self designed and powder...
That's pretty neat.
That would give us just over 1000km (620 miles) realistic range when traveling. We've been consistenly getting around 22.6mpg over the last 6000 miles on our current trip with the EcoDiesel, fully loaded with camper (fully furnished), water, etc.
As an FYI for those who might be tempted to try OsmAnd with iOverlander data and have some proficiency with Go programming (at least basic understanding on how to compile and run a Go program is required) and are comfortable with doing things on a UNIX commandline, I have made the repository for...
If you get roll or springiness, check htat your shocks are handling the weight. Our stock shocks were giving us significant roll and spongy hanlding, the Teraflex Falcon II are much better, even in the relatively soft setting we prefer. Their fast compression damping is a bit harsh, but they...
A quick recap of stuff that works, and stuff that doesn't. Not a comprehensive list, just some thoughts that come to mind.
What works:
RV like interior: friggin awesome to have in bad weather or with tons of mosquitos around; the seating and the tables have been incredible for time in the...
The Dempster in bad weather is utterly disgusting. A lot of the camp options were very muddy as well.
The Jeep seems to be a terrible vehicle in these conditions. It's incredibly hard to clean and tends to soil itself all over. We haven't seen any other vehicle as dirty as the Jeeps on this...
