Had leather in my JL, and now cloth in my Gladiator. While the leather will be easier to keep cleanand looked better(IMO) I like how I don't slide around in the cloth. I made the decision based on spending a weekend with my business partners 2dr JL with the cloth.
This will be our first Gladiator build, so I can't tell you how much better the angles would be with the 2" lift and 35's.
We will be going as high as possible with ours while still being able to fit in our 82" garage. The belly and bed overhang really need the height where on the JL a 4" lift...

I'm not sure it's the bedliner? Mine only sat in JB for three days with bedliner being the only option being installed there(From what I've read on various options)
I haven't regeared a Gladiator, but on the JK's there was a "plunger" that had to be properly positioned when installing the gears or the Jeep wouldn't show the lockers as disengaged(light continuously flashing, but the lockers worked.)
I'm not sure where in Houston you reside, but the West Houston Jeepers facebook group has a ton of meetups. Great group of people. I work a lot but we make it to events when we can.
