If I understand correctly, Max tow includes DJF and DRF axles, with 4:10 gearing, and that the DJE and DRE axles are the same 44s, but with 3:73 gearing. So if I understand, the Diesel will in fact get max tow by default? Discuss.
Ditto, and to add, if you run a 3.6 with a heavy load towing and big tires very long, well, it won't actually be very long. The Pentastar sucks, and I refuse to buy another Jeep with that crappy motor in it. (I would take a GME-T6 though).
Truth is, for $4k, you get the diesel, plus the wider, stronger Dana 44s front and rear (with LSD on a non-Rubi), and bigger brakes. This is basically the max tow package. Seems like a good deal to me. Perfect as a baseline to build a superb overlander. Plus, on a JT, why get a 7000+ tow rating...
