I did not even consider used, because I had to order anyway to get the options I wanted.
Even so, since I tend to keep vehicle a very long time, used does not make sense to me.
My last vehicle I bought new and drove 16 years and 350,000 miles. It was time to replace it. If I had bought a...
The tines are deformed into a shallow "V" for added strength. Their marketing material says:
Manufactured using Heavy Duty 13 gauge heat treated tempered steel. Twice as thick as a normal residential shovel.
Reinforced teeth to prevent bending and breaking.

Well, as I said, it was 18 MPG average for 1000 miles of highway driving. I got 24 on the same trip returning, with no trailer. Do you believe that? (EPA rating is 23 highway). I have a stock Overland, with the stock highway tires.
I wonder why some folks insist that since they have not...
You're welcome!
There is a widely-accepted notion that modern automatic transmissions are so efficient that they deliver just as good MPG as manuals, which was not the case way back when.
While this is basically true, what I have found is that driving habits still are what matters the most. I...
Short of re-running the trip with you in the truck I don't think I can convince you. It is not clear to me what troubles you about my statement.
But convincing you is beside the point. I was giving some information to the OP, which he seemed to appreciate.
Quadratec is offering a combination LSD/locker by Auburn that is described as: "for 71-21 Jeep Vehicles with Dana 44 Axle with 3.73 & Numerically Lower Gear Ratio & 30-Splines".
So the JT Overland has Dana 44 axles, 3.73 gears, and is between 1971 and 2021. Hits 3 out of 4.

What causes a lot of confusion is that over the year and a half that JT has been sold Jeep has changed what is available on some trim levels, and even what is included in some option packages.
Well, going from Naples, Florida (elev. 13' at my house) to Henrico, Virginia (elevation 200') is actually uphill. And I did get 18 mpg average for the whole trip, towing 3500 lbs.
One thing to keep in mind is the 4000 lb limit with the manual is based on the torque capacity of the clutch/trans., not the basic stability of the JT platform. So one way to think of it is that even at 4000 lb maximum you are well below the theoretical maximum towing capacity of the vehicle.
