Just watched your video last evening after it got posted by randomly searching for JT bed rack videos.
Nice vid and explanation. I've had mine for a few months now and I really enjoy the rack. Just took it up to the UP of Michigan loaded with Kayaks and camping accessories.
I'm in talks...
Made a small change -
instead of using 2x4 studs which seemed heavier and clunky - I switched them out with 1-5/16” thick wooden closet rods/dowel and wrapped with pool noodles.
I don’t have a picture of the top off with the hoist but this will for sure be a bit easier and safer from a...
This has been done before, so I don't want to "steal" credit - but I decided to create (follow) a garage ceiling hoist:
Materials from Home Depot:
x4 Stainless Steel 3/8 X 4-1/2 in. Lag Thread Eye Bolt
x4 5/16 in. x 3-3/4 in. Stainless Steel Eye Bolt/Nut
10 ft. x 1 in. Cam Buckle Tie-Down...
Thanks for the reply! I think this is the method I might copy but i may use some sort of support that runs underneath the hard top when it lifts up to the ceiling.
I'm thinking of doing this soon...
Any issues with the straps hooks damaging the hard top undernreath?
I assume those "eye" hook attachments on the ceiling have been fine while drilled into the ceiling joists?
I needed the longer bolts that go through the platform of the kayak carrier that I originally lost - so I had to go purchase them again. That’s about it.
Yeah sure I’ll do it in the morning. Basically the name plate was off of it when I opened everything. It’s intact, it just somehow came off the rack.
Bed rack is installed! I had to use an angle grinder and shave some of the posterior portion of the voodoo bar to get my tonneau cover on but it works perfectly.
I was sort of a pain in the ass to install. Nothing against the KbVoodoo brand or anything - but there are a ton of little nuts and...
I contemplated doing a lift but settled for a level.
Outside of some old farming roads/paths and hunting access tracts - I don't off road much.
A level gives me a nice look with a small bump ('lift") in the front.
Got it installed the other day. Super happy with the look and the ride. The Bilsteins firmed it up a bit which is nice going over some terrible cracky/bumpy WI roads.
