Looking to install a 1.5 Teraflex level kit on my Sport S. I know the majority of you would encourage me to do it at home, but I'd rather pay a little more for a pro shop (and well reputable) to do it. They also recommended new shocks so they quoted me Bilstein B8 5100s:

Teraflex 1.5
Bilstein B8 5100, x2
Alignment

Parts: $568.97
Supplies: $20
Labor: $362.50
Hazmat: $6.16
Tax: 52.67
---------------
$1010.30

Would you guys agree with the shocks, or would it be fine to stick with OE?

Bilstein's are decent shocks but it looks like a bit of an upsell by the shop IMHO.

If you decide to go for them, get all four corners and not just the front two.

Thanks for the reply.

Would the ride really be more harsh with the stock shocks?

I could really not say for certain. Generally you want to stay in the same brand and series of shocks for front and rear as they are usually tuned for like dampening and rebound to each other. Mixing brands and series style is an unknown that may give unintended results.

A few days offroad blew out the stock front shocks on my truck. If you plan to get offroad, you'll probably have to upgrade them anyhow.

When I had the Teraflex leveling kit on my Overland I kept the stock shocks. I couldn't tell a difference in the ride.
I have a Readylift 2.5 lift installed now with the stock shocks and the ride is still good. Although I am looking at the Bilstein 5100's also.

Thanks. Yeah I’ll probably stick with the shops recommendations. $1k for something that I plan on enjoying and driving for hopefully the next 15 years is nothing.

I did that exact move a few weeks ago. Bilsteins are great (all 4 I did), way better than stock. I would also recommend the .75 daystar for the rear which ended up being perfect for what I wanted. No alignment needed. Mine came out looking a hell of alot higher than 1.5, rides great should have done a long time ago, no more of that bouncy feel. No def not harsh at all, way better than stocks.

Got it installed the other day. Super happy with the look and the ride. The Bilsteins firmed it up a bit which is nice going over some terrible cracky/bumpy WI roads.
