Clarification added: "...from a manager of the fluid manufacturer".
Answering WILDHOBO's question in post #69, the goals are to provide the published & dated facts from ZF in one place (had already been done before this thread started), and address chemistry vs. warranty. Unless you're...
Still confused about whether MOPAR 8 & 9 Speed ATF (68218925AB), for the automatic transmission, is synthetic or not? Influenced by regional regulations, ZF has published conflicting information over the years. From my perspective, there is not a clear answer.

BG Products is a B2B brand that caters to independents. To qualify for the Lifetime BG Protection Plan, the service must be performed by a "BG shop". The liability limit on an automatic transmission is $2K.
It is true that BG Products states that PN 3153 is compliant with ZF LifeguardFluid 8...
The industry consensus on high mileage is 75,000 miles. This is a collection of links on this topic, including an article published by Valvoline and a number of high-mileage motor oil options for the 3.6L gasoline engine.

Many of the basic considerations on ATF for the automatic transmission are covered in post #40 in a different thread. I also suggest reading that entire thread.
Service Intervals
The 1st link in Post #40 includes advice on NORMAL and SEVERE service intervals. The service intervals are based...
Each of the following options meets MS-9602. I prefer Valvoline because the price is right and DIY is easy.
MOPAR 68218057AC
AMSOIL ATFPK-EA
RED LINE 30604
Valvoline 822348
For price and warranty info, see section 1.9 in Links to Prices.

In my post on Key Info, I classify MOPAR 8 & 9 Speed ATF Automatic Transmission Fluid (68218925AB) as a synthetic in an attempt to prevent confusion (never gonna happen). The fact is that there is conflicting information, from ZF itself, on the type of fluid (synthetic or semi-synthetic). We...
Note: This is a list of grievances for next Festivus. It is not guidance. For basic guidance on ATF for the automatic transmission (and some on the manual transmission), see post #40.
Why, might you ask, is there a SEVERE service interval (30k mi / 3 yrs) for the manny tranny in the OM, but...
Post #40 provides a basic understanding of ATF for automatic transmission, as well as some coverage of the manual transmission. As DanJT said, 30K miles / 3 years is the severe service interval for a manual transmission. It also happens to be the only specific service interval, for either...
I am agreeing with the "HEAT and oxidation" comment in post #34 above. Removing the fill plug briefly exposes the fluid to more air than usual. Then again, when 3 fl oz is removed for testing and it is replaced by 3 fl oz of new ATF (resulting in a very slight increase in new additives), this...
The 4th of these four posts is more like War & Peace. The specific sections in the first three posts are quick reads. Facts are thoroughly documented back to manufacturer or licensor. Some advice is borrowed from experienced members of this forum.

In case someone doesn't understand that this comment meant "like" the owner's manual, none of this content (as in zero) is in the owner's manual. Also, I always read the hover message before I click.
A link to this thread (a "reference doc") has been added to the beginning of each section...
This post is a reference document for my post on Links to Prices.
This post does not address the 3/36 Bumper-to-Bumper or 5/60 Powertrain warranties
This post lists warranties with coverage of damage to other parts, on parts listed in my post on Links to Prices
MOPAR is not mentioned in every...
The next time I hear "lifetime fluid" at the dealer, I will ask them to show me the warranty, with lifetime automatic transmission damage & failure coverage, in writing.
This is hyperbole.
As the only manufacturer/licensor info we have other than "lifetime fluid" (poor advice), here's the guidance from ZF.

The table in section 1.3 of Links to Prices is a list of several gear oil options. My pick is AMSOIL Severe Gear, but any product listed in the table will work.
RockAuto rates many products on a good/better/best basis, but they do not have such a rating on gear oil for the Gladiator. Also...
As long as the owner's manual doesn't specify 75W-140 for the rear axle, 75W-85 (or 75W-90) is correct for normal driving. There are folks who use 75W-140 on both axles for increased durability. This is also fine, but gas mileage will be a bit lower.
Thanks for the suggestion. Diesel motor oil and filter are covered in item #13 of the following post:
Oils, Fluids & Filters -- Lists & Guides For Jeep Gladiator
I will add diesel-only guidance to post #1 in this thread (above) after someone writes an all-in-one thread on diesel-only fluids &...
