The new black steel steering box that is now on my Gladiator is 68507576AA. Sticker is still attached. I took a picture for my own records. The old aluminum steering gear box had a part #68418449AE.
I really wish somebody that knows for sure, exactly what is the difference on these steering boxes? Bigger sector shaft? More surface area on the bushings? Different ratio? The steel vs aluminum casting? The difference in driving/steering feel is so great to me that something had to be...
There should be a way to undo this permanently from the ECU. There should be a way to eliminate the puny second battery permanently. I know.........it's EPA thing. But it shouldn't leave you stranded when it messes up.
NO excuse for this. At the very least the whole interior should come out and be professionally cleaned and dried. Your insurance company might do it and fight it out with the dealer. This is no different if the Jeep got hit on their parking lot. It's their fault. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!
I went from my DD 2018 RAM 1500 reg cab, short bed, 2wd, 3.6/auto PLUS my "Toy" 2019 Challenger R/T Shaker. I "kinda" miss the Challenger but my knees don't. Every day, every time I drive my 2020 Gladiator Overland Gator colored new DD I smile. The steering was off and the new steering box...
I had to "drive" mine on the 75MPH interstate. Didn't drive it much on interstate because it was pain to drive. Did most driving 2 lane 55MPH, wasn't as bad. Back roads, didn't stand out, but was putting along at 20-40MPH. Now, at 75MPH it's one hand/two fingers holding the wheel. All together...
My steering gear, bolts and power steering fluid came in one box. The tech showed me it the next day. They said go drive it and come back so we can check the power steering level. After 75 miles it was below the MIN mark, tech said that's normal as it takes a little time to burp the air out.
Just got my Gladiator Overland back 2hrs ago. Holy Moly....Good Golly Miss Molly!!!!! This thing now drives exactly like the 2018 RAM 1500 2wd reg cab short bed I traded in. You go down the interstate at 75MPH with your finger resting on the steering wheel straight as a arrow. No correcting...
On my stock Gladiator (Which is going to remain stock.) Will a better track bar help any? Zero lift. Having the steering box replaced as I type this. Zero off roading expected. Stock size tires/wheels. I know the better bushings on track will last longer. Your thoughts please.
Seems like a lot of metal in there. I've cut a lot of filters open and haven't seen that much, even at that low mileage. I would definitely cut open the next one. If you take a razor knife and cut at the top & bottom plastic end caps the media comes off real easy.
Does anybody know if the steering ratio lock to lock is the same with these new steel gear boxes? I heard they were different, but it might have been the 2 door Wrangler box on a 4 door Wrangler. The TSB shows all 3 boxes with different part numbers.
Dealer called today (8-19-20) said gear box, bolts and power steering fluid was in. I take Gladiator in (8-25-20) Tuesday 8:00A.M. to get installed. YAAAAA!!!!!!!!! Will let you know how it drives afterwards.
Did any of these exhaust modifications actually do any good for real power or MPG increase? Not rear end dyno or "pretty sure it gets better MPG." The biggest restriction in these little engines is the catalytic convertors. I floor mine from a stop, it shifts at 6600RPM and tops out at 110 MPH...
