The narrow width of the Gladiator is definitely a plus. 100% agree with you. My wheels do stick out about 3" on each side though so my width at the tires is actually slightly more than the width of this beast at the body. I've been on narrower shelf roads than 99% of the people out there with...
Gotta say this new Truckhouse is pretty interesting. With the two door option it's about the same wheelbase as a Gladiator. I've always liked the Earth Roamers but they are too big to go to a lot of places. This is really tempting. Not as capable as my Gladiator but it would be really nice for a...
I know 10 days isn't a lot for covering that much ground, but if you have time consider Rimrocker. Great way to go from Moab to Southwestern Colorado. The San Juans are a great place for epic views. Rimrocker is a fun trail with plenty of camping spots.
Lots of good advice above. One other thing to consider is that you don't need to camp every night. With a wife and three young girls along consider spending a night in a hotel or airbnb. Do it somewhere in the middle of the trip. Everyone gets a good hot shower and is refreshed for the rest of...
I will drill holes in it and use carriage bolts to hold it in place. Will put in some rubber washers as well for waterproofing.
That is how I mounted Roam boxes up top.
Current setup - Genesis dual battery system, Bluetti 70S, 200 watts portable solar.
Usage - Fridge, Starlink, device charging, camp lights. I am going to be adding an ice maker.
Originally just used the Genesis before getting Starlink. As long as we were driving a bit every day it worked...
I store my spare gas cans, Joolca shower, and traction boards on the outside. Shovel and axe on the inside. I am going to remove the Joolca and put a Pelican box in its place. It's a V700 vault takedown case that I ordered if I am remembering correctly.
There is also a tent up top and an...
The Joolca is a good system. That is what I have currently. I am trying to simplify setup and what I carry with me. I have had an occasional issue with getting the Joolca to light but overall happy with it. The cover that Joolca has available is not very well built though. The zipper is shot on...
I have been making some tweaks to my setup and considering installing a heat exchanger for hot water for showers.
There are pros and cons and yes, you need to run your engine to get hot water.
I am curious if anyone on here has experience installing a system like this on a 3.6 Gladiator. It...
Didn't try Cleveland rock. We went on our own but ran into a good group to tag along with. They didn't head to Cleveland. Not sure I would have tried it anyway!
I did capture some video if you are interested.
Great job man! Looks like a lot of fun. I think you will find Holy Cross pretty easy in comparison. It's a fun and scenic trail with enough difficult obstacles to make you feel like you accomplished something. It's not the Rubicon though from what I have seen. Will hopefully find out one day...
My Gladiator is about a worst case scenario for gas mileage. Heavy tires, heavy wheels, built axles, bed rack, roof rack, on board air, winch, boxes and a tent up top, etc, etc.
5.13 gears.
I don't bother taking the tent and storage off because it's easier to leave it all on and ready to go. I...
These things are amazing! We have gone on trips pulling a small camper thousands of miles. Then during the day hit a level 8 or 9 trail. We use a tent when we go to places the camper can't go.
There are times it performs better on a trail than Wranglers. Depends on the trail characteristics. We...
