  1. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the map says I live in the NW area of Vegas. Your experience is just that, your experience. And lens into the world. I’ve made two 911 calls about gunshots at night. And I know what gunfire sounds like…
  2. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

Okay, these “gangbanger” folks were “imaginary” when they visited my 55+ gated community in the middle of the night and tagged lots of things, cars, garages, sidewalks, etc. I live in the high rent district too, and photos don’t lie…
  3. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

Isn’t there a worthy conversation about that when inflationary pressures have caused “light duty“ pickups like the Gladiator to cost as much as “heavy duty” pickups? Honestly, I think Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators have gotten way, way overpriced. I bought a reasonably loaded Wrangler Rubicon in...
  4. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

It’s all about your zip code. In Florida, I had a ragtop 2019 Corvette and a 2019 VW Golf R4 or whatever the hell they called that racey little thing. $200 a month for all of it at my “somewhat” rural dwelling. Here in Vegas, there’s gang bangers and car thieves all over the city. Not to...
  5. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

I setup a Google alert to keep up with any news involving an F350. Seems they keep winning in traffic accidents. The drivers are often times walking away. The other parties are getting tearful farewells and hymns sung. It is what it is, as they say.
  6. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

That’s a notable conversation too. My car insurance went down $40 a month with the F350. And Las Vegas is one of the most expensive places in the country for vehicle insurance. My F350 is $190 a month. When I go to having two vehicles, say a Jeep and a BMW i3, my car insurance is $500 per...
  7. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

Is it ”laughable” when I would forget about the crack in the road between Lee’s Summit, MO and Independence and the front end would bottom out at 40 MPH like I hit a brick wall? And my spouse is sitting beside me going WTF?
  8. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

Yeah, but when you’ve got 1,500 miles in front of you, it’s easy to wish that it is.
  9. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

I’m just sharing my story. Ya’ll do what you want with the takeaways and lessons. Real or imagined. I didn’t share the information to start any arguments. The Gladiator has virtues and negatives. I can’t take the top off my F350 or hose it out.
  10. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

It was one of the only new vehicles for sale on the lot in July when I got it. That’s not so funny when you give it some serious thought, is it? It was built in April, was still sitting on the lot in July. 10k miles later, it’s back on the lot.
  11. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

Things to say don’t always come to me all at once, especially at my age, so apologies for that, and here’s another thought. The five-foot bed size was a deal-breaker on the Gladiator too. I’m 5’ 7” and my spouse is 5’ 4.” With the F350, I can put a Decked platform and a camper shell on the F350...
  12. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

The highway safety concerns were my number one beef with the Gladiator. That and the effing-cheap-azz turn signal lever, lol. And I got a 175k, 7-year bumper-to-bumper extended warranty on the F350. So even if you’re correct about the injector pump, I’m covered for a long time. I should add...
  13. They’re Still Trying To Sell My 2022 Diesel Rubicon

I enjoyed the time that I spent with all of you here, but it’s time for me to depart. About a month ago, I bailed on my 2022 diesel Rubicon for a Ford F350 diesel. The deal was brutal because of the MSRP markup situation. We started out with the stealership removing the $10k “area markup...
  14. Jeep Quality Survey

The crappy turn signal lever is a simple fix for Jeep: Make one that looks like and matches the two shift levers. Then do the same with the wiper lever. For God’s sake, at least do it for the folks getting milked for over a $100k for a Grand Wagoneer.
  15. DEF tank only lasted ~2,800 miles per computer

But that’s the problem: There doesn’t seem to be a reliable reading for how much you can add without running that toxic stuff down the side of the fender. I’m short and old, lol. It’s a pain in the neck holding that heavy container at chest level and trying to stand back a bit so my clothes and...
  16. DEF tank only lasted ~2,800 miles per computer

I’m going to go with adding 2.5 gallons when it reads 20%. That seems like a good safe point. From here on out, I’m also going to remove the Peak DEF container from the carton before using. The last two have both leaked. I’ll probably also drape a disposable shop rag on the fender.
  17. 3.0L Diesel High Pressure Fuel Pump Recall Z96

Final bill for my first “free” service (dealership perk for buyers of new vehicles, not part of my Jeep Wave freebies) was $136.35. It’s a hard receipt to decipher, but that’s supposedly the fuel filter and labor to install it. Oil change, tire rotation, and the fuel filter. Rotation was free...
  18. DEF tank only lasted ~2,800 miles per computer

I’m in the camp that believes the DEF gauge is totally inaccurate. Today mine was reading slightly less than a quarter. Keep in mind that this is supposed to be a 5.2 gallon tank. I verified this at the dealership. I added 2.4 gallons (a little bit leaked), but the gauge went all the way up to...
  19. Jeep Quality Survey

I’m at a CDJR dealership as I write this post. So I couldn’t resist checking out the turn signal lever on one of the $108k Grand Wagoneer price pigs to see if Jeep went all-in and made a higher quality arm for their top of the line luxury liner. It appears to be the same cheap plastic lever.
  20. 3.0L Diesel High Pressure Fuel Pump Recall Z96

At the dealership now getting my first service. A good catch by Rusty that in the dirty diesel states a fuel filter change is required alongside the oil changes / normal service, not to exceed 10k miles. Interestingly enough, the service writers had never heard of this added requirement and...
