Oh the amount of gas those things burned is legendary. I don't remember ever calculating the gas mileage on mine, but I would guess it was about 10mpg on the highway.
Right. I installed my own and it was easy. The gray plug is right there tucked up high kind of over the parking brake pedal. It’s hard to see by looking under the dash, but I used my cell phone camera flipped so that I could see up in there and plug it in. It was easy as pie. I spent way...
I agree 100% that touch is much better wash - so much so that I won’t spend my money on a touchless anymore. They all leave a film of dirt all over the vehicle so I consider them a complete waste of money. I’ll either wash it the old fashioned way in my driveway or take it through a wash with...
That's what I got too. It's perfect.
What a lot of people don't talk about is water collecting around and under mats. If they don't get some airflow under there, the water can't evaporate and just sits there. I've found that the Deezee quickly drains and evaporates whatever water gets...
I think I'm on #7 if I remember correctly. Everything from a couple of 70's Wagoneers, 2 Cherokees (one 70's, one 90's), a 70's Cherokee Chief, a TJ, and the JT.
Cultish following? Maybe so. It’s deserved, and good advice for someone in the NC mountains like myself.
Regardless of where you store the Freedom panels - you and your interior (and loved ones if with you) will be soaked before you can pull over - let alone get them out of the bed. Trust...
Maybe mods are kind of like swimming pools. A swimming pool can hurt or help the sale of a house depending on if somebody wants a swimming pool or doesn’t.
I think it depends on the mod and the person looking at it. I had a dealer show me a used wrangler once that had mods on it I thought...
I've resisted this, but I've seen a few jeeps around that I thought deserved a duck. I may order some ducks and have them at the ready as well. My luck somebody'll see me and think I'm doing something evil to their Jeep and freak out.
I think you'll be fine. Make sure to disable the traction control while you're towing with the anti sway hitch and you'll have a much better towing experience. This is actually something I've recently learned with my truck and new trailer. The sway dampening feature of our JT's uses the...
The only Jeeps that I can say are less likely to wave or wave back are the older Jeeps, the ones with a couple of decades of age on them. Maybe it's my imagination but it really does seem to be the case.
We recently inherited an old TJ from my deceased father-in-law who always had an old Jeep...
Wow - I remember seeing that ad way back then.
I had a 78 Quadra Trac Wagoneer and I've got to agree that was a fine 4WD machine. It was probably the best on snow and ice that I've ever driven, and that was on plain old radial whitewall tires. It handled OBX beach sand like a dream too. I...
I keep putting things on the front fender, then forgetting about them and driving off. The fender is lower than the hood so I guess it's out of sight and out of mind for me. My wife told me to stop putting things there even for a second. So far I've lost several coffees, a hitch pin...
Agreed. Tekonsha is a great controller with all the features I want. I didn’t have to sacrifice my power port or any dash storage. Plug and play easy. My 5,000+ lb trailer feels like it’s not there when slowing or stopping, and that’s what it’s really all about anyway.
The instructions on my sway control WDH said to turn off electronic sway control when using the hitch. I’ve forgotten to do that several times and haven’t noticed any difference. I guess it may overwork the brakes since that’s what it uses to dampen the sway?
Yes - if your WDH has sway control. Our JT’s have automatic sway dampening that will work against the hitch sway control. Turning traction control off will also disable the truck’s sway dampening. I got that info from my dealer’s service manager.
I changed mine because the car wash brushes were tangling in the long metal one. It never did damage but it was scary to watch it.
By the way, I tested before and after reception just for the sake of curiosity, and it’s not as good. I so rarely use radio anymore that it doesn’t matter to me.
I use and appreciate having that bed way more than I ever thought I would. Just throwing something back there is so easy.
I think I’ll be equally happy as we tow our new travel trailer. I’ll be able to throw the camp chairs and stuff like that in the truck bed instead of blocking the inside...
