  1. Rear camera goes blue or black

My after market Tazer front camera did this to me a few weeks ago wheeling in Moab. Would work and not work intermittently. Thought it was related to the Tazer. Then it did it to my stock back up camera a few times. Hasn’t done it lately. Figured it’s a loose connection in the head unit...
  2. Steering Stabilizer Install

I believe both the stabilizers you described are gas charged. They will be under pressure and want to extend when you install it. Be quick to have the bolt ready to slip in before it passes the hole. You can pull the end back, but it’s tough. Also, you may feel a slight push to the left in the...
  3. Death wobble help please

So…lots of good advice so far. Since new tires seemed to start the problem check there first. Have them rebalanced or swap fronts to rear. When you say everything is tight…you mean torqued to spec or tight? Everything steering related must be torqued to spec. The usual suspect in death wobble...
  4. Tips for pulling a 5x8 U-haul trailer w/ a Mojave X

If you’ve pulled trailers before, it’s no different. I’ve pulled a 20 foot camper thousands of miles with my lifted JTR on 37’s. I often forget it’s even there. Just got back from our annual Moab trip a few days ago. Great to have a tow vehicle and a wheeler all in one.
  5. Death Wobble

Death Wobble can be caused by many things. It’s not that a 4 year old Jeep will have worn out parts, but maybe you have a loose joint somewhere. As others have suggested, you need to check to check the torque specs for your steering and suspension up front. To need to check to see if the ball...
  6. Rubicon build Rock crawling and daily

If you really want to rock crawl, you’re going to want to go with 37’s + which will require a regear to 5:13 (you could get away with 4:88 but why?). As suggested add diff armor. Anti-Rock sway bars front and rear are the bomb. Actually the Rock Jock Pro 3.5 lift is the total bomb if you can...
  7. FAD Fork Part Number

Compare cost of a new FAD unit to the cost of a FAD Delete axle.
  8. Whining noise

How’s the condition of the serpentine belt? May a pulley going bad? You can spray water on the belt or individual pulley to see it goes away.
  9. Winter rescues of stranded drivers...

Recovery is not as simple as it seems. There are risks of damage to either vehicle and injury to yourself and others. Our club recommends you video consent and waiver to damage with your phone when you help recover a stranger. Sad, but today’s reality. We had a local off roader die last year...
  10. Oil Drain Valve

Put an EZ-Drain valve on every vehicle we own. Get the threaded hose attachment and a piece of hose. Mess free oil change in minutes...
  11. Death wobble in stock gladiator!!

Got to inspect the usual suspects. Have someone turn the wheel back and fourth and look for play at the steering components. Make sure all your steering components are torques to spec. Most common is a loose track bar at the frame. Test your ball joints for play. Make sure your tires are...
  12. Favorite obscure brands?

They are sister companies and have a complete line of tires. Passenger, off road, and trailer. Nexen is big in the drifting scene as well. Don’t overlook them for off roading.
  13. Favorite obscure brands?

Nexen and Hercules tires. We did tire testing for these companies and they are really a fantastic tire at a great price point. We first tested the Nexen Roadian MTX a good 5-6 years ago. We ran them in several rigs against name brand MT tires. We personally decided to keep them as our go to...
  14. Clicking noise when I turn steering wheel

What Dylan said…you need a second person to turn the wheel back and forth. Look for unusual movement at all the joints. The most common suspect is the Track Bar Mount at the frame. Check torque specs on all the components. If you find a joint with movement and it’s torqued to spec, it may be...
  15. Help me decide 4.88 or 5.13 for my use

What would make you unhappy with 5:13's? Pros: You'll have more torque off the line. Will crawl better when off roading. Would support the 38's you think might go to eventually. Can tow better with less stress on the system. Will pull mountain grades with ease. Always better to be geared lowered...
  16. Help me decide 4.88 or 5.13 for my use

Sounds like you have talked yourself into 4:88. Many of us have suggested 5:13 or even 5:38 with sound logic behind our suggestions. You have your reasons for leaning that way, so just go for it. It won't be terrible no matter what. Worst case, you change your mind and/or don't like the 4:88...
  17. Inexpensive Amazon Tonneau Cover

Yes, a generic weatherstripping. Got mine off Amazon.
  18. Inexpensive Amazon Tonneau Cover

Have the same cover for almost 5 years now. Still holding up just fine. You need to be careful how you position it to get the tightest water seal. Mine does leak a little on occasion. If you off road, you will want a seal kit to keep the dust coming in from the tailgate. It’s a lot of dust if not.
  19. Help me decide 4.88 or 5.13 for my use

I have a 2021 JTR on 37’s, and re-geared to 5:13. I also tow a 3600 pound camper plus gear. I wheel hard and often travel with and without the camper through the mountains. I would absolutely recommend 5:13’s when planning to tow and/or pull grades through mountains. If you plan to tow and pull...
  20. Squishy Fluid Sound

Nothing to fix. It’s a standard ABS check. Took a few dealership visits to figure it out, but then there was that one guy that knew what it was. Most vehicles do it. I’m just hyper aware of everything. Easy to replicate just get in, turn it on, drive slowly and around 10 mph you will feel/hear...
