If the spring came unseated couldn’t it cause the noise slowing down if the axle is shifting? I’m reaching here but on my Tacoma on take off and slow down the rear axle could rotate slightly up/down depending on the load on the engine.

Checked those. Mine have a foam/rubber sleeve over them no noise from there.
