Heh, yeah I fish freshwater and use pretty cheap gear even on that scale, so I can afford to be alot more 'cavalier' about it. My most expensive set up is about $100 and that's the flyrod in the case.
Sorry to hear about this. Before purchasing the gladiator, we rented a Jeep sport on a drive through upstate NY, and up to Montreal. Had the freedom tops out and a small rock flew in and hit my 8 yr old son in the back seat. We had no idea where it came from. Fortunately, it wasn't moving...
Wow, you guys are serious, I just throw my rods in the bed! Might bungee them in place to keep them jostling around. Longest rod I have is a fly rod and it breaks down to fit into it's own padded carrying bag. All goes in the bed along with a couple coolers and tackle boxes.
Seems like the BT speakers were problematic for more than a few. Mine never worked, but between the dealer and FCA, I got a new one that worked. Minor issue in the grand scheme. No issues other than that at 10K miles, knock wood.
Thanks for that, will have to procure some of those.
I've noticed a few funny inconsistencies with the model. It has a Rubicon decal, Rubicon front fender height, and hood, but has characteristics of a few other trims (I think)
1) Appears to have the plastic "filler" piece between the front...
I ordered one of these after initially seeing this thread. It is a surprisingly decent model. Anyone know what battery it takes? Mine didn't come with any.
I've taken mine off twice installing a K&N filter (first filter was the wrong one). Didn't have too much trouble with it. If the 4 bolts get loose, the cover should lift up. Threads aren't stripped are they?
Not sure what the variables are here, but I've actually noticed exactly the opposite between a wrangler and gladiator.
Before I decided to buy the gladiator, we had a JL Wrangler sport as a rental last summer. The steering on it was really bad. You did get used to it, but there was a ton of...
Actually the only thing listed here that's not available on a normal Overland, without the North package, is the badge. My Overland came with 18" wheels and LSD. I have the all season tires but AT's were optional.
I have heard that the North package comes with a good retrieval/recovery kit...
Completely stock Overland here with All season tires. Have owned it since July and have taken it off road 5-6 times in that period. Almost always on Forest Service roads with conditions ranging from dusty, to muddy to very light snow and mud. Never had any issue at all. Even crossed a stream...
The JT is my first Jeep and I was a little bit hesitant about the reliability going into the purchase, especially with it being a first year model and all. But decided to take the chance, and I'm now at 9K miles and (knock wood) have not had any issues apart from a few rattles in the hard top...
I had thought about this same thing and decided against it. Didn't look quite sturdy enough for that. The problem with using the tow hooks on the bumper is that they curve inward and I can't see how rope would stay affixed to that. It seems like without a roof or bed tack, securing a canoe or...
I could understand that set up, tho you don't see it often.
Good to see all the pics! We're under a shelter in place order now, which changes things a bit. Still I'm thinking of using the opportunity to take everything off and use the JT like a golf cart in the neighborhood. Will also have...
Oh nice. We started at the fish hatchery north of Suches, off hwy 60. The turn off is just past Deep Hole state park, if you know where that is. I'd fished up at the hatchery a dozen times, but had no idea how far back that trail goes. We did about 10 miles past there and the road just kept...
