The JT is a great bug out vehicle. Sure, all the fancy electronics could be an issue at some point, but a bigger problem is where to 'bug out' to? Went out last weekend and the north Georgia mountains were just crawling with people. 15 miles down a dirt road in an area that's normally fairly...
I honestly don't know that I'll ever put the windshield down, but who knows.
I have to say, an open air trip was exactly what our family needed last weekend. After two weeks of working from home/homeschooling and listening to the ever more apocalyptic news, it was awesomely refreshing to...
Had some great weather in North Ga last weekend and we took the top off completely for the first time. Despite owning the gladiator since July and having the freedom panels out frequently, this was the first time removing the entire top. Completely transforms the driving experience!
My largest coolers are two, Coleman, Steel Belted coolers. One original from the 70's and one new model. Both are around 54 quarts and fit fine. I have a Tiger Tonneau from Amazon though
It did handle well indeed. Special ordered the saddle brown interior on mine. The issue I had with it were the brembo brakes squealing like hell after about 12K miles. They still stopped well, had decent life left, but just sounded like hell. Dealer couldn't resolve it. Between that and...
I had a 2015 PP GT in the same magnetic color, traded mine for a 17 Charger Daytona 392, then the Charger was traded on the JT. Mustang guy from way back though; first car was a 65-289 notchback, then owned a 2000, and 2012 before the 15-S550.
I can understand that logic to a degree. But anywhere you could get an RTT, you could get a traditional ground tent that takes up very little space in the truck bed and requires no mods to the vehicle. Of course, you're still on the ground with those approaches and you do have the footprints of...
Similar here. Owned a Full size Bronco for years and really liked it. But I wanted a bed as well and got tired of waiting. Ford has been teasing this vehicle for a decade it seems. Had hoped they would base it off the F150, the way the Full size Bronco's were. My 96 Bronco could carry...
Nice set up! I think I'm leaning towards a pop up.
I think you and some of the others are correct in that for most folks, it's probably as much a cosmetic mod as anything else, which is cool of course.
I would imagine many JT owners, including myself, could actually afford the set up, but the...
Oh right, somehow I missed there was already a thread on this, sorry for the duplication.
I suppose it does depend somewhat on how and why you're camping and I'm sure there are some use cases that actually do come out positive in the cost/benefit equation. Seems doubtful that would be the case...
Nice. Similar to our set up. Back in the bachelor days, I was used to something closer to a backpacker set up; really just a 2 man tent and sleeping bag, but the wifey likes a few more creature comforts!
I've seen many of the cool looking Overlanding setups on Gladiators and other off-road vehicles. I do a bit of camping with the family and thought that it might be a nice upgrade from the tent camping we usually do. But when I look at the cost of the set ups, I'm honestly baffled why so many...
Found your vid on Youtube outside the forum; glad to see some more Gladiator content out there, nice job!
I too found the biker's fall hilarious. Not sure what really happened, but It looked like he may have been laughing at the gladiator trying to get over the obstacle, then he goes and...
I've found that the front, outside edges of the freedom panels are prone to rattling. On the driver's side panel, the front outside edge started rattling first. There's a little trough up there that accepts the freedom panel; my gasket had worn through to metal underneath and was rattling...
There have been a few threads on this and it does seem that it's just really hard the first few times. Mine was too and I also thought something may be wrong, but it was fine after using 4wd a few times. Seems to be easier if you're shifting on the fly as well.
