Interesting. I ordered the exact same kit and was sent the 3A, a weaker spring. If you look at videos in Amazon reviews, the rate that the hood rises varies considerably. In some, the hood has to be raised quite a bit before the springs kick in and lift it the rest of the way slowly. In...
Heard back from Andreas at Redline. They are sending me a more powerful set of gas springs, with a 4A rather than 3A in the part number. I went out this morning and tested them again. The temperature was 61 degrees. If I raise the hood to where there is an 18-inch gap between the front edge...
That's good to know. I assumed mine were working correctly and it was just my expectations that were wrong. The cylinders will hold the hood in any position, but do not raise it until almost fully opened.
Ordered the Redlines and while they do a great job of replacing the OEM prop rod, don't expect them to lift the hood...even the standard Rubicon hood. According to the Redline website, they will "lift and hold your hood." I have to lift the hood almost to the fully open position before the...
Just to clarify: An inReach is not a Personal Locator Beacon. PLBs do not require a subscription. They transmit on the 406Mhz frequency which is monitored by NOAA and the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center. Satellite messaging devices such as the SPOT brand and Garmin inReach require...
I did not need a full rack, but wanted a place to mount scene lighting. I picked up the DV8 chase rack which comes with side lights and added the rear-facing 10" Baja Designs S8 Work/Scene light bar. All 3 lights are wired to the #4 OEM auxiliary switch. The 6350-lumen BD light projects a...
Just an FYI...your insurance rates may go up if your provider finds out you are using emergency response lighting on your personal vehicle. I used to run overheads on mine about 25-30 years ago. And your county could be liable for any accidents if they allow lights on a POV, especially if you...
To update my earlier answer as to whether the concepts will be in Moab...they are currently here. As in the past, they will most likely spend a few days on photo shoots on various trails and then the vehicles will be on display in town...my guess is by Tuesday or Wednesday.
I assume they will be in Moab...especially since they were unveiled about a week ahead as they have always done in the past. While there is no giant vendor display at the arena this year, my guess is that the Jeep display will probably be in its usual location in the Walker Drug parking lot.
Many of Moab's trails have been trashed over the years by lead-footed drivers and, more recently, by UTVs. As the trails deteriorate, they require more highly modified vehicles, often to compensate for lack of driving skill. i.e.: 40 years ago, I could easily make it to The Waterfall on Poison...
I made the original mount out of 1" square aluminum tubing with a steel plate attached to the top with small brackets. It was bolted to the 2 holes in the front of the bed.
I had to search my content because I know I posted the weight when I removed them to build a flat floor. Mine are cloth and the total weight I posted in October of 2019 was "about 90 lbs."
I assume you're talking about the DV8 Chase Rack...it's definitely not a rollbar. The mesh bolts on and is extremely simple to remove. Then you just press the button on the paint can.
I've used numerous Rigid Industries light bars and have always been very happy with them. I decided to go sorta round with the Gladiator. The reach and pattern of the combo I chose is every bit as good as (if not better than) the Rigid light bars I've had on my other Jeeps and trucks. The...
