Bought mine new in 1982...sold it in '96...bought it back in 2016. I thought I would keep it forever but decided to sell it in 2019 because I discovered I was more interested in preserving it than driving it. It was one of the best-preserved and most original survivors in the U.S. so it ended...
Not a Yaesu (it's a 100-watt Vertex), but shows another mounting option using RAM Mount components. The control head is mounted on the stalk attached to a seat-mount bolt with the rest of the radio under the passenger seat.

If it is slick, drop it into 4WD. That might be an inch or less of snow. You can drive as fast as you want in 4H. Conditions should dictate your speed.
I originally saw the DV8 Chase Rack on a Gladiator custom build at a dealer in Grand Junction, CO. I liked the looks of it...so I ordered one on my phone while waiting for a lift to be installed. It provided a location to mount an antenna for my SAR radio and rear and side-facing scene...
It might be hard to find photos of the Guardian rack on a JT because they do not make one for the JT. DV8 does...and they have lots of photos on their website of the rack installed on a JT. Here it is on mine:
I installed my headliners and sound assassin strips last December when it was 22 degrees outside. I brought the Freedom Panels inside the cabin to warm them prior to install. For the rear, I ran the heater for about 10 minutes and used a heat gun to warm the top. I did minimal sanding on the...
I used both holes on the driver's side for a radio antenna mount that I built. I taped a nut to my finger to get it on a bolt in the top hole. Awkward but it worked. I later installed a DV8 Chase Rack which uses the threaded bottom hole.
I've been with one of the busiest SAR groups in the U.S. for over 28 years. I often use the lights driving backcountry roads but have only used vehicle lights for scene lighting once. I ordered the BD work/scene LED bar for when I need to use the bed of the Gladiator as a command post...
I would not put any lighting above the hood unless it is a very narrow spot. Some folks don't mind light ("glare" is subjective) on the hood. I prefer absolutely no light on the hood...unless from the moon. The only light I've considered for A-pillar mounting is the BD Spot Laser with a...
C'mon guys. A little exercise is good for you. Just put both hands on the lowered tailgate and hop in. That's what I do...2" lift with 35s...73 years old. If the tailgate is up, I use the step in the OEM bumper to climb into the bed.
I searched yesterday for rear-facing scene lighting...found a ton of light bars and a bunch of cube lights that would work. Just about any light bar will require drilling unless you use a cradle mount and drill holes in it to match the holes in the DV8 rack. Not many manufacturers specify a...
Nope, I still have not had time to hook up the lights They will be wired to my one remaining OEM auxiliary switch. There is no dedicated spot for mounting rear facing lights, but there are a lot of points where you could easily mount one or more. In fact, thanks for the idea. I think I'll...
I'm in the sizeable camp that hates ESS. So I was thrilled when that system stopped working on my Gladiator last Jan. 1. The light and "not working" warning message was on for nearly 10 months with no adverse effects. But when I took the vehicle in to have a dealer re-program the computer...
I put the Freedom Panels back on in the winter...quieter and warmer with the Hotheads. The switch either way probably takes less than 10 minutes and is easily done by one person. The Sunrider does not have to be dis-assembled to remove or re-install.
I've tried several door-off mirror options through the years...didn't really like any of them. Hopefully Jeep will take a cue from the new Bronco and finally move the mirrors off the doors.
I'm sure some in the low-rider crowd scoff at lemmings with Jeeps lifted to nosebleed heights and sporting massive tires...simply to clear the curb at the local mall. While I would not outfit mine like those pictured, I'd definitely stop to check them out at a car show. I'd wave at the orange...
I've had fridges from different manufacturers and of varying sizes in my vehicles for at least 20 years and have powered them in different ways. I've never run one from the main vehicle battery and would not even consider doing so. As you discovered, fridges can be finicky when it comes to...
Because I like the hard top for security, the noise factor, the glass rear window, appearance, and it's a pain in the A$$ to switch full tops. I can go back to a full hardtop in just a few minutes. Since I have no back seat, I have no need to ever remove the full top so back seat drivers can...
