Very nice project. Since you made it from such heavy stock it seems the second diagonal member is unnecessary. It definitely looks good for symmetry but it would be plenty strong without it and would cut down your weight a couple pounds.
Bought my fully stock 2020 JTR used July 2021 with 15,000 miles on the clock. It now has a bit over 34,000 on it and not a single problem. Nothing at all. Never a check engine light, never missed a trick on starting - I allow the automatic shut off/restart every day.
Drove it to Seattle from...
I towed this enclosed 14 ft trailer weighing 4500 lbs as you see it (took it to a weigh station) from Seattle to Atascadero, CA back in June 2022 with my totally stock 2020 JTR.
I bought rear air bags for it but ran out of time to install them before the trip which is why you can see a little...
No idea. I didn't even know there IS a summer blend. What's different about it? Undoubtedly an excuse for oil companies to charger more for it, sheesh.
First I admit I know SQUAT about lights: LED, halogen or otherwise. I know LED's are light emitting diodes and they use (I think) very little power - but do they get hot easily? Is that why Mjolnir says trouble with snow pack around them?
Anyway, I'd like to improve the lighting in my 2020...
I'm going to need new tires relatively soon. By Spring most likely.
I've been considering whether I want to go up to 35's just for the helluvit. What will be the impact on mileage, speedometer accuracy, etc on my otherwise entirely stock 2020 JTR?
Oh, I forgot the "money shot". Here's the rig connected. Tows fine, no issue at all. I got an additional "cigarette lighter/12V outlet" added in the driver side under dash area. Brake controller worked fine this trip.
Also while bitching and moaning, I noticed I lightly dented the tailgate somehow. NO idea when or how I did it but a Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) guy I used before should be able to get it out.
Before you inevitably say, "It's a truck, it's SUPPOSED to get used and abused". My attitude is, "I...
Anyway, while on the subject of my travails while RV camping I did this to my passenger side rear NFab step bar. SEVERELY pisses me off!
Pulling out of the campsite, I hit a big boulder used to define the parking spot. What you can't see in the photo is it also slightly bent the whole bar...
Well, this^^^ is precisely the problem. If both the RV and the Gladiator were on level, smooth pavement there would be little load. But pulling into every campsite I've used so far the surface ISN'T level, smooth, and usually not even paved. There's always a little binding and I can't get the...
Quick FYI for anyone doing a search on the Maximus loops. Towed my Gladiator to Ventura and now to north of Santa Barbara. They tow the truck fine. Tows straight, doesn't seem to be a particular heavy load on my F350 RV with Triton V10.
BUT, connecting/disconnecting the loops is a pain in the...
UGH on the finger. I'm getting more injury prone as I get older. Which really translates to just, "I'm getting old". DAMN. Wish it were otherwise but probably isn't.
No, my truck does not have Aux switches, wish it did. I bought it used through Carmax in 2021 when it was about a year old with...
URGENT QUESTION - Leaving truck switch on "ACC"
Can I leave the truck in "ACC" position while I tow it?
The brake controller needs a constant hot and the 12v/Cig lighter isn't hot if the truck is Off. There is no 2nd 12v/Cig lighter outlet like on JK in center console!
Will it hurt anything...
EDIT: just found a video on Youtube that shows a guy using these Maximus tow loops on his Wrangler. Caught a screen shot (sorry for the lousy focus) so apparently my attempt was a good one, I just need a larger D ring shackle.
