Hey you guys: I attempted to hookup my truck to the RV this morning to take a short "test tow." All was well UNTIL I tried to attach the safety cables to the Maximus loops. The loops are 3/4" steel and the cable hooks don't open wide enough to go through. I have a couple large shackles...
This is a duplicate post (mostly) of one I put on the Towing/Flat Towing sub forum. Administrator - Please remove it if this isn't allowed.
Finished installing lockable bike mounts in the bed for an upcoming camping trip. Mounted on a scrap 2x6 & finished it just so it doesn't look like well -...
Following up on this thread:
I'll be flat towing the Gladiator behind my 26 ft. Class C 26 RV for the first time starting next week. Previously we towed a little Fiat 500; which we still, have but I've wanted to make the Gladiator flat towable for (what we hope is) a couple months long trip to...
That's my plan at the next change. I virtually never go off road or if I do, it's only a dirt road with some small rocks so I should have no concern with hitting the valve.
I've only driven my 2020 JTR 15,000+ miles since purchasing it a year ago but it's been reliable as the day is long.
I change the oil & filter at an indicated 33% to 50% remaining oil life. But I admit the 0-20w viscosity doesn't fill me with expectations of 626,000 miles - though I'll never...
Thank you for the response and the link but at $350 a pop I will NOT be getting these. Sheesh!
I am picking some fork mounts that are lockable from Amazon. I plan to mount them to a 2x8 and in turn use some kind of notching, bolts & pad locks on each end to lock the 2x in the truck - though I...
I didn't recognize it when I first read it but I was born with and still have "Hank Hill's butt". I could weigh 500 lbs and would never have a butt. I'd have a helluva belly and quadruple chin though.
I JUST drove 300 miles last night and I hadn't considered that a dead pedal would make it more...
Reviving an old thread to ask the obvious:
Doesn't anyone make bike holders that mount to the trail rails? With or without the front tire on the bikes? Need them soon for a November trip.
Finished notching the belly pan on the Jeep to complete the tow loops install this morning. Fits pretty well after filing and painting. I'm pretty pleased.
But I FAILED in my (accidental) attempt to cut off the tip of my index finger. It's the same finger tip I cut with a cut off wheel when I...
Good to know about the plastic bumper but I'm glad to have the metal one overall.
I don't mind the red because it matches the factory recovery hooks on the Rubicon.
Yes, I have the tie rod, just haven't installed it yet. My RV is in the shop getting the heater repaired so I am HOPING I get...
Finally installed the Maximus-3 tow loops that have been sitting on my bench for months. I plan on towing it behind our RV a couple times next month.
It should be a fairly easy job, but it's not with pretty poor instructions and poor black & white pictures. This isn't a true "How To" thread...
Fumoto valve just arrived today and yes, it has the blue washer. Ok, I'll just use that and cinch it down moderately, not King Kong crazy like a teenager at a discount oil change place!
Resurrecting this old thread -since it's already on the subject - to ask if the consensus is I should use Telfon tape (carefully of course), blue thread locker, or nothing when installing the Fumoto on my JT?
I bought these too. Fixed passenger side and I imagine the driver side will break eventually too. Maybe I should just install the fix BEFORE the driver side breaks?!
Wait...wait...I know the answer. They're the ugly illegal ones?
But seriously, with no side markers they can't be DOT approved, right? Making them illegal?
