I'm fully in favor of ESS when paired with a manual transmission; driver has accurate control over the thing with the clutch pedal and engine restarts are instant/seamless.
When the belt-driven A/C compressor stops turning, it also has the added benefit of dehumidifying things every so often...
Was this trick with a replacement key as big a problem for the Sentry Key (SKIM)-era Chryslers, though?
The SKIM module in my WJ is a little more difficult to bypass (the PCM needs to be reflashed to ignore it), and you need the VIN-specific SKIM PIN from Chrysler to program a new key's RFID...
Ahhhh, the high beams, hadn't thought about that. I think most new cars are the push/pull for high beams?
The manual transmission versus holding the start button thing is a little unusual, but I suspect it might be for resilience down the road? ie: you fully control starter engagement the...
Quoting myself. For my sample size of ONE, I'm going to state that - about one year into JT ownership - FCA build quality is slightly less then my DaimlerChrysler-produced products.
It's minor stuff, but a little sooner than I'd expected.
- Weird, intermittent clutch whine when downshifting...
Three theories:
A nod to the past: The JL/JT headlight switch is in the same location as the push-pull switch you'd find in an '84-'96 XJ or a TJ (or a CJ or pretty much any car from yesteryear).
Cost: It's somehow cheaper to omit the rotating headlight control switch from the turn signal...
Congrats! I've wondered how a 520mm EU license plate bracket would fit on a U.S.-spec bumper.
@Stuntman Mike - does your EU-spec JT have a front license plate bracket like this?
*U.S. front bumper. Export models get ultrasonic sensors in the front bumper standard.
I think there's an option in AlfaOBD to enable/disable the front and rear sensors, but you'd obviously have to have the OEM front sensors for it to actually do anything.
I think the front ultrasonic sensors are standard on JTs outside of the U.S. (Europe, Australia). Probably pretty expensive to retrofit on a U.S. model, and it's still only a plastic bumper. It's also longer than the U.S. bumper (pedestrian impact safety, I think).
I'd honestly not be concerned - you'd know about rodents pretty quickly, either by evidence of their presence (poop, nests, etc.) under the hood or mysterious fault codes from damaged wiring/shorts.
If the main + ESS batteries sat fully depleted for a while, they'd probably have a much shorter...
Last post from Renee was over on the JL forum:

You could just e-mail them and ask 'em what they're currently doing for folks.
Can only compare against a brief test ride in a '23, but small advantages for the '24 (entirely ignoring the cost of changing vehicles from one MY to the other):
- Allegedly has firewall sound dampening from the diesel and additional sound dampening material in the pillars.
- Side-curtain...
Figured it's been a few months and I'd update this thread for posterity with '24 JTM observations (around my decidedly boring, non-4x4 commuting-to-work/daycare use case).
Steering: the JT actually wanders quite a bit more than the WJ. I suppose this didn't shake out in my brief '23 Rubicon...
I'd vote for a CAN issue as well; the multiple modules freaking out simultaneously could indicate a CAN wiring fault/short somewhere (rodents?).
In the case of my '00 WJ, the fault was internal to the PCM itself, leaking noise onto the bus and preventing any other module from communicating...
Figured this would be as good a thread as any to tack onto for future reference.
On my '24 in AlfaOBD, the hood ajar monitoring setting is under the BCM / CBC Features section:
CBC Features:
Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) Hood Ajar Monitoring 2: Yes/No
I'd also recommend some ear plugs if...
Yeah, that's the response you'll get if either the VON or the last name isn't right (and the official tracker and any third-party trackers aren't going to work, either).
So either they've mangled your surname or the VON isn't right.
$200 off your next Mopar Accessories purchase, lol.
Probably depends on if you enjoy reading JSON or not, but I found it easier to just bookmark (and habitually check, lol) the API web site for my order - loads really quick without any graphics, etc.
