Update:
As I've been using the powerbox I built, I am noticing that the need to have the bcdc 1225d inside the box just isn't practical. Im not actively charging while using it. So, I decided to mount the charger in my bed. It is attached via anderson plugs if the need for portability arises...
My '06 unlimited was a beast. 170k miles on it, floated across a few swamps, crossed creeks, etc. Never did anything other than add a roof rack and 31" tires. Drove it from Florida to New England quite a few times. It wasn't much more than a 6 cylinder golf cart to be honest. I loved it though...
I have a Xplor Full Height from Rebel Offroad. Can pretty much configure it anyway you want. The table mount/table have been more handy than I could've imagined. There are about 300000000 options for bed racks out there. Hope ya find what ya need!
I think i went with the 25 amp dcdc charger. That pure sine inveter must be sweet. I added a 1000w mod wave to mine. Pure sine is in the future..but ya know $$$.
I also added a bypass so I could pull from vehicle mounted battery if needed.
@TennesseePA I think you made something similar, but this is a box I built. I could definitely be slimmed down. Especially by mounting the DCDC charger someone on the vehicle. Most of the box is empty space. I live in FL and was worried about heat...
Yes they are the same. Theres another post somehwere around here that explains it. You basically have 400W shared between 2 outlets. Not a lot of juice, but it could be plenty depending in what ya need it for.
100% agree with this. And you can get a 1000 watt inverter for about $150. Might even be able to mount it under the steering colum. I ran 1 awg from my main battery to an inverter. I used the bed plug as a 12v outlet. Its all preference, but that 400W inverter won't do a lot for you short charge...
Not necessarily specific to the power box, but added some stuff.
Rebel Offroad Full Height Rack
Made a shelf to mount toolbox laterally
Added LEDs
Made a platform for powerbox
Mounted a Rebel Offroad full height bed rack. Built a platform for my.power box so i could have the outlets bedside. Also, made a mount to run my toolbox length wise. Ran some LED lights along the top of the rack for some good nightime tailgate beer sessions!
So 1 more thing. My Redarc BCDC charger kept flashing in the led panel. I didn't realize that that battery had to share a ground with the charger. Connected it and problem solved.
Hopefully these uploaded in order. Theyre better than the other pics I posted. Basically just wanted to show the path from battery to truck bed. Then, the innards of the box. Still trying to decide on an inverter. Also, excuse the 250 amp fuse that's not in a holder. Waiting on delivery.
