Awesome - thanks again for your feedback! It's always encouraging to hear that I've got most of the basis covered.
Just today I began adding data sources for estimating build dates, and am working to expose invoice price.
Keep the ideas coming. :like:
I've been working on a VIN tool that lets you lookup any number of details about a Jeep Gladiator, directly from its VIN. This could be useful if you're shopping for a used vehicle and are not sure what how it was originally configured, or are just curious about your own vehicle, etc.
Currently...
Thanks!
Yeah, Given your VIN I have no idea how they came to the conclusion they did. If you'd used my VIN tool (http://do.fetch.vin) I would have labeled it as a "Sport", but for KBB to list what they do... ?‍♂️
On the topic of a seller, they don't have to take your word for it. Show them...
That's Jeep for you. The model is determined by the 7th digit in the VIN, so for example:
1C6JJTBxxxxxxxxxx
If your VIN looked like the above, you'd know you had a Rubicon because the 7th digit is a B. In the case of sport (and Willys) the 7th digit is 'A'. Technically Jeep doesn't consider...
I thought if that too, but I’d be lying if I said it was my first guess… no, that was “taco”. Not sure why, other than it thematically fitting and starting with a “t” .
I wish it returned a 401 - although in this case I think a 500 would be appropriate, as this isn't a password protected resource. No, instead they return 200 OK, even for invalid VINs, but I digress.
As to why I'd question if they'd be going away...
Not wholesale, but perhaps after a time...
I just noticed the behavior, and wanted to post this here to see if anyone is seeing the same thing. If I take my VIN a look it up on Jeep's website to pull the build sheet, it is now returning a message that says:
"Unable to fetch required information. Please contact System Administrator"
As...
I don't know.
I don't think it takes much to drive better than an F-350. Also, the 350 IIRC is solid front axles - just like the Jeep, so you're not really making a comparison.
For comparison, my wife's 2021 Honda Pilot just glides over bumps in the road. These are bumps you barely feel in the...
I'd ask them why a new vehicle's cat is plugged. The catalytic converter in most vehicles outlives the vehicle itself - so for this to fail, and fail so early, isn't a good sign.
Do you have any other dealerships in your area? I'd find one more competent.
Yes. I can't take pictures ATM because my Jeep is in the garage, and with the snow and ice I'd rather not back it out to get to the passenger side, but...
The fuse box is on the passenger side. Route your power cable from your windowshield up through the trim piece above the windshield and down...
To each their own. I run e10 in my vehicles, but I choose to use pure gasoline in my small engines - I find with the single cylinders, carburetors, and long storage times (with with stabilizer) that e10 doesn't work as well. So, I'm all for anyone choosing whatever they want whenever they want...
This is coming from the perspective of people who drive Jeeps.
This.
FWIW, the Rubicon (and I suspect all trim levels) are amazing to drive compared to any other Jeep I've ever owned. The longer wheel base does wonders.
But, at the end of the day, it's still a Jeep, with a solid axle. It's...
I'm not overly worried. Worst case scenario I either work from home more and/or drive my Prius more for commuting.
IF gas prices get anywhere close to $5 then I'd recommend looking into a second, small, cheap, used commuter vehicle for just putting miles on. Save the miles (and gas) in the Jeep...
