Nicely done. Looks good, and the hooks are a nice touch. I keep wanting to make something like this for my JTR, but Iāve had sooo many health issues the past couple of years I just havenāt been able to get any projects like this done. Itās hell to get olderā¦
Iāve seriously considered adding forced induction to my ā21 JTR, especially since we live at 6,500ā elevation, and naturally aspirated engines lose power that high, but I just canāt quite commit. Does the Magnuson setup require premium fuel? Are there any issues with engine coolant or oil temps...
Iāve wondered for a long time why a paradigm like REPB hasnāt been pursued by any manufacturer before. Itās the method used for diesel/electric locomotives, and has been for like 90 years. Having a stable onboard source of electricity to power/drive traction motors on the wheels makes perfect...
I have to say that the rather brutal Gladiator price increases, and the unavailability of the diesel and manual transmission models, has had a major impact on sales. When I bought my ā21 Rubicon, I got an acceptable deal, but now the sticker for the same equipment is 20% higher. With interest...
If it works, it works! Iāve followed directions on similar-age WD hitches, and it just wasnāt right. Decided to try my own approach, and achieved great results. Sometimes, it just takes trial-and-error.
I use an old (from the ā90s) technique for the dash, and it works every time for me - so far, at least. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine, pump the accelerator pedal three times fully, then turn the ignition off. Let it sit a minute or two, then start it. Iāve never had that fail...
Empirically testing the effects of different grille configurations - now thereās an idea! Anecdotal results arenāt often valid, and neither are āI believeā results. Do some rigid testing. Great post.
Please tell me youāre not going to Jeep Only in Las Vegas, which is where this current Gladiator appears to be from. I realize that Lithia now owns the dealership, but my experience there buying my Rubicon was the worst dealer experience Iāve ever had, period.
This is a dealer add-on that relies on being āscience-adjacentā to be sold. Using cathodic or anodic sacrificial metal systems can help preserve shipās hulls in saltwater environments, but this doesnāt apply to vehicle sheet metal or paint. Someone bought a useless item that boosted the dealer...
Iāll be very interested in the final setup, also. I have a ā21 Rubicon with the 6-speed manual. Iāve been considering forced induction, as we live at ~6,500 feet elevation, and it would help maintain power in the mountains around us. Please update with your best results.
Have a Renegade (2017) thatās Anvil - never have understood that name - and really like it. Bought a ā21 Gladiator in Sting-Gray, since that was as close as I could get then. The ā24 Wrangler is available in Anvil, so I may have to repaint or buy another Gladiator (really donāt want to do that...
