  1. Doing my own oil change

Interesting point - the 5W-40 Euro oil is the same oil that is specified for our ā€˜17 Jeep Renegade with the 1.4L turbocharged four-cylinder (and, yes, I’m very aware itā€˜s a Fiat 500X in Jeep-ish bodywork). Just something that caught my attention, as my ā€˜21 gas 3.6L Gladiator specifies 0W-20…...
  2. Tire change on interstate

I’ll add my take on this - it’s situational. If I need to change a tire on an Interstate or other highway ā€œin the booniesā€ with minimal traffic and good off the shoulder access, and it’s daylight, I’ll change it. If traffic is heavier but there is an exit near, especially with a nearby parking...
  3. Parking lights flickering on and off

Didn’t know it has a different setup. Have you added anything that taps into the lighting circuit? Had a vehicle a while back that did that, and it turned out to be a tiny nick in some wire insulation when a brake controller was mounted. It ā€œback flowedā€ into the brake light switch, so when I...
  4. Good Deal in Tennessee...

You definitely have a good deal there. As an aside, when I bought my JTR, the F&I guy ā€snuck inā€ $2K worth of crap I had specifically told him I refused to get (Tire/Wheel protection, Mopar Vehicle Maintenance, Karr alarm, etc). It took some effort, but I got it all refunded. It was just extra...
  5. First tow

Be sure that you accelerate and brake gently - that load will push your Gladdy all over (LOL)…
  6. Parking lights flickering on and off

Hmmm…interesting problem. I would look at the ā€œauto onā€ light sensor and affiliated parts. It looks very similar to what happens when driving into a dark, shadowed area from sunlight. Otherwise, I dont know what to suggest.
  7. More from Engine Failure

I was going to mention this, as well. If - and it’s a very big ā€œifā€ - the testing of the fuel shows gasoline contamination, it may be due to a screw up by the station or tanker delivery. I’m of the mind that no contamination will be found. Otherwise, you have a good handle on what happened and...
  8. Jeep 3 piece Suit.

I actually don’t have any Jeep hats or shirts - I know, that’s bizarre - but we do have a neon Jeep wall clock. Does that count at all?
  9. Cheaper option to disable ESS

Exactly what I was going to post - the ESS only works on the manual transmission Gladiator when the shifter is in neutral and the clutch pedal has no pressure / is not depressed at all. I’ve found that if I don’t want the engine to shut off, just leaving my foot resting against the clutch pedal...
  10. How it started...and how it's going. Post yours!

First time parked in the drive, December 2, 2021.
  11. There’s two types of people in this world… ?

In the immortal words of my grandfather: ā€Them what do, and them what don’tā€
  12. What kind of plug do you keep in your rear end?

I plug my hitch with this semi-homemade cover. It’s a plastic clip-in oval-shaped plug that formerly had a ā€œpuffy plasticā€ dealer logo. Picked up a few a number of years ago, for free. I peeled the dealer logo off, and replaced it with reflective tape. No significance to the colors or shapes...
  13. Window tint issues and questions.

I’ve got everything as dim as I can, and have it still be functional (I’ve always done in all my vehicles, BTW). I’m quite sure the dealer used very cheap tint, and if I used my JT as a mall-crawler, it wouldn’t be an issue, I’m sure. But being on dark mountain roads with lots of wildlife, I...
  14. Window tint issues and questions.

It’s definitely the quality of the film. I’ve had other flat-windowed vehicles with tint that had nowhere near this issue. Usually, the tinting has been done by a dealer or previous owner. This is my first time in many years to need to find replacement tint. I’m looking for recommendations on...
  15. Window tint issues and questions.

I’m quite familiar with the dash light control, and that’s the major issue - doesn’t matter how dim the lights are, the reflection limits vision, and I do not want to drive at night with no dash lights at all.
  16. Window tint issues and questions.

I didn’t say the dealer was doing anything but removing what they applied. I’m planning on consulting a couple of well-regarded local shops for possible replacement tint. I’ve never had this issue, either. From what I’ve learned so far, it’s most likely due to a cheap tint. It has gotten...
  17. Window tint issues and questions.

I know there are several threads dealing with window tint, but none actually address my issue, so I’m posting a new one. Please offer whatever information that you can. My front windows were tinted by the dealer on my ā€˜21 Rubicon. The rear windows are the factory dark tint, and are fine. The...
  18. Oil Changes

My preference is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20, and a NAPA Platium 4100010 filter. I would also use the NAPA Gold 100010 filter if the Platinum wasn’t available. Just my choices…
  19. Dealer GPS Tracker

My ’21 Gladiator had a Karr unit installed (done as part of SWDS crap). It was there to both track the vehicle and disable the engine should it be stolen from the dealer’s inventory. It was useless to anyone else, except as a ā€œprofit point.ā€ The engine disable was supposed to be neutered by the...
  20. What changes would you like to see on the next gladiator?

In mine, once the a/c has reached a certain inside temp point (relative to the setting), the ESS will function. It will also start the engine when the inside warms up, too. It’s annoying as hell…
