  1. When the 540HP Hurricane arrives,,,,,,

Having had a JK with 430HP LS3 crate engine and 6L80 trans, I can offer a little experience on big HP in JK's, JL's, and JT's I hope. First, if rock crawling is your main use of the Jeep, the HP is a waste of time. You don't need big HP to rock crawl and all it does is get you broken quicker. If...
  2. All this talk about batteries!

I'm an old guy too, had more hot rods, sports cars and Jeeps than I can remember. I agree with you on the aux battery. Only a techy with no real world experience actually modding and using Jeeps would put that battery where they did. Batteries are an essential item and as such need to be...
  3. Lift recommendations for 2023 Rubicon Gladiator. 37” tires on 20” wheels?

Just finished with my 37" tire install on AEV wheels and AEV Dual Sport lift. Top quality lift for sure. I did not want the vehicle quite as high as it turned out, but it works fine. 22" from ground to bottom of rock rails after lift. Hope it settles a bit after awhile. Drives very well, 1000...
  4. BAM!

Couldn't say it any better. That's why we still have choices in Jeeps. People who want a two-door JT should build one. If you want the best crawler, get a JL. If you want a good all-around vehicle for off road and overlanding, get a JT. There is no perfect Jeep.
  5. Dana or Ukon for a regear?

Your welcome. I like Yukon, but I like Dana too. Both are acceptable alternatives in my view. I'm sure your shop will caution you about breaking in the new gears and my advice to you is follow their instructions when doing so. New hypoid gear sets are "rough" by machine standards and need time...
  6. Dana or Ukon for a regear?

Sounds like you have already made up your mind on the issue. In any regard, I have had both Dana and Yukon gear sets as well as other parts made by both companies. Have had no problems whatsoever with either one. In reality, there are far more problems generated from improper setup of gears than...
  7. Making a quieter truck, where to start?

I had a JK with LS3 conversion. I bought HotHead insulating kit and sound deadening kit, spent eight hours installing it, and was shocked at how much it reduced the noise level while reducing the heat from below and above the Jeep. Well worth the money. Going to do same to my JTR.
  8. Start/Stop not functioning

Go to another dealership. If you think driving forty minutes is extreme maybe you aren't driving your JT enough. Dealerships mostly suck, at least the service departments anyway. Cars are evolving and no one is teaching or educating the service techs fast enough. Go to a good repair shop that...
  9. Is the Gladiator losing interest with buyers?

Your father must have witnessed some amazing times while at GM. But Toyota, not an inconsequential company, thinks hydrogen is the future as I do. As for GM, there was a time when our economy went as GM's fortunes did, but that's gone. GM is no longer the king of cars. They have made too many...
  10. Is the Gladiator losing interest with buyers?

I was referring to the Xe models, or as I call them, worthless models. Good or bad, the future is hydrogen, not all electric. Just ask Toyota. They know a thing or two about building cars, even though I have never owned one. Petro companies are not going away anytime soon, and the lefty's and...
  11. 37 or 38

I went with 37's and an AEV 2.5" lift but I don't plan to rock crawl at all. I overland and drive the highways. Down the road, once RPM Extreme has a conversion kit, I am installing an LT1 in it. Had one of their LS conversion kits when I put LS3 in my JK and it is still running down the road...
  12. Any thoughts on the new EPA guidlines, relaxed or a setup?

Laws don't have to change. The bureaucrats write the policy requirements. Look no farther than the EPA. These people are going to end all diesel production unless they are stopped. The only people who can stop them are us at the polls.
  13. Is the Gladiator losing interest with buyers?

The only thing buyers are rebelling at is the inflated prices. Mopar sells a diesel version of the JT and it has a troubling history thus far and apparently is about to be canceled. This is more a function of Joe Biden's assault on the petro industry than the engines reliability but regulations...
  14. 40s or towing on factory rubber?

I just wasn't sure where you were going with it. But I get it.
  15. Wiping Seats, Doors & Dash?

I use a wet towel but sometimes use a very small dab of soft soap, just enough to remove any body oils, etc, if necessary. Usually a soft cloth and water does a good job. Many times what is sold as or described as leather interior isn't. Most of the manufacturers have switched to synthetic...
  16. Tonneau Cover for Winter

I had covers on both my ZR2 and now on my JTR. I removed the covers and installed a SoftTopper canopy on both vehicles and I run them year round. I initially thought I would use the flat covers in the summer and the SoftTopper in the winter but I found that the SoftTopper was so perfect for my...
  17. 40s or towing on factory rubber?

I'm not sure there is a good answer to your question, at least without doing a great deal of dynamic modeling with sophisticated software unavailable to most of us. I was trained as a civil / structural engineer, and I can tell you for a fact there is no easy or satisfactory answer to your...
  18. Oily residue on rear frame?

Looks like the stuff is on fender liner too. You may have hit a puddle or something that had oily residue in it. After a long dry spell there is a lot of oil on the road and in puddles. Use brake cleaner to remove the residue and the watch for a while. You should see some indication of it's...
  19. Hmm, this is an interesting solution. No More Dry Starts

Well I'm old enough to remember $19.9 gas. So I must not be THAT old cause I can still remember it:) I bought a used one owner 55 Chev 2dr hdtp as first car. It had a toilet paper oil filter on it. The guy claimed he had them on all his rigs and never changed the oil. The engine was a six...
  20. Felt type battery cover

You are a AMC guy I see. Nice cars. MY HVAC guy has a race AMC that he spends all his money on as well. I made fifty bucks a while back on a bet about American Motors, specifically, that in the late fifties Rambler thought about putting fuel injection in one of it's models. Chevy did it in 57 of...
