  1. Wheel poke

I had a JK with AEV wheels and now have a JT with AEV wheels and they retain the stock offset the stock wheels had. No rubbing issues ever. The JT has 37's on it and no issues ever overlanding. No rock crawling, just street driving and overlanding. Vehicle drives perfectly, no wheel chatter...
  2. Front Wheel Bearings?

Don't know, haven't had to replace any in my JT. Just a general rule I have that on most things I buy OEM but vary that on some things. Bought new LT1 crate engine that I am eventually going to put in my JT. Had a JK with LS3 and it was perfect fit and still going strong at over 120K miles. As...
  3. Front Wheel Bearings?

I buy OEM first. Otherwise, best bearings are Timken or Japanese manufactured. Japan makes very good bearings. Just a note but when I looked at your JT pic it looks like your wheels stick out quite a bit. With large tires that would be very hard on wheel bearings. Good luck to you.
  4. Flat towing with tow plate and LoD bumper

Not sure exactly what you have but I have Warn 12K winch with Jeep JT steel bumper. The winch is mounted on a warn winch plate and sits down very nicely to clear bumper but tight. Wouldn't recommend cutting winch plates unless you know what you are doing as some are very modest in construction...
  5. Rolling with ducks now

Not into the ducks so when I get them my Springer gets them next. Then I clean up the remains.
  6. It’s not the TPMS sender……

I have a JT now and a JK and Cherokee prior to that and can tell you I have had problems with the TPS on those vehicles as well. Same thing on a Colorado ZR2 and Ford pickup before that. The technology has an abysmal record I believe. I took the TPS off my JK and turned the ones on the JT off...
  7. 4.88s or 5.13s

I assume you have 4.10's currently. Why do you want lower final drive gears? You didn't say. With 33's, 4.10's and an eight-speed transmission are fine. Just curious.
  8. Milestar Patagonia MT-02 issues?

I've had at least three sets of them in 35". Not the 02's though. Currently have a set of 37's in the 02 model and they are poor compared to the earlier version. The sidewalls are plenty tough, as tough as any of the other brands. I have seen other brands get ripped sidewalls on rocks and debris...
  9. Is it just me, or is the cruise control horrible?

The Cruise Control in a JL or JT is no different than any other vehicle. First, they all say not to use them in hilly or mountainous terrain. It's good advice. Any vehicle with six or eight speed transmissions are going to see a lot of up and down shifting unless driving on flat terrain. The JT...
  10. JD Power Vehicle Dependability results by manufacturer

I too have owned many, many vehicles. I have owned Porsches, GM muscle cars, street rods, Audi's, Ford pickups, and Jeeps mostly. The Porsche's were by and far the most dependable if you took care of them. Friends with BMW's didn't fare well though. Lots of issues. These surveys comparing road...
  11. JD Power Vehicle Dependability results by manufacturer

Meaningless survey. Put the Jeep in a category with others in the same category and it would mean something. But comparing Jeep to Porsche is a waste of time.
  12. Male voice not female

You and I agree, that voice is annoying. I spent a half hour trying to figure out how to change it like some other systems are capable of. No use, we are stuck with her. I call her "the snippy bitch". I have been told the nav system was developed by Garmin and if true, Jeep didn't get a good...
  13. How to: Update UConnect 8.4" via USB drive.

Thanks for your post. Have had my unit updated twice due to slow functioning of features and ap loading. I have finally decided its a lost cause and just accept that if I want a JT with an uptodate computer I must need to spend $100,000 on a different vehicle to get one. The operating system...
  14. New boat

We have a place in South Haven Michigan and those pics sure look like the area along the Black River there. In any regard, nice boat!
  15. 23 Gladiator Lift & Tires

Somewhat depends on what you are going to do with it. If no rock crawling then you can get by without any lift if you want pretty much. I have an AEV lift kit with AEV wheels and 37's. Like them very much. I don't rock crawl at all but do overland in many different conditions, some very harsh...
  16. What trailer brake controllers are you using?

Correct. It is just plain cheap ass to sell a vehicle with tow package or any vehicle for that matter rated to tow and not have a brake controller included. I love my JTR but this may be my last Jeep. Too freaking expensive, too many cheezy issues, and worthless dealers. I miss my 2020 Colorado...
  17. Alignment issue after lift

First, do you trust the shop who checked the alignment? If you want to get good info and are not knowledgeable about steering components, take your vehicle to a known competent shop that does a lot of 4x4 vehicles and get their opinion of the problem. It appears you clearly have a problem with...
  18. Be careful buying used Gladiator parts

If you live long enough you are going to get screwed by someone. Happens to us all, whether or not we admit it to others. Other than ebay, I don't buy from any site other than reputable vendors. Just not worth a few bucks savings. Don't write off the police on this too quickly, sometimes they...
  19. Rotopax’s expanding.

No problems with them but you have to burp them when temp changes a lot. Never had a failure though. Temp affects every type of gas container so mighty as well get one that is proven and doesn't leak.
  20. steel vs aluminum, opinions and experience welcome (newby needs advice)

There is a reason military vehicles use steel as their primary armament component. I have a JT factory steel bumper with Warn 12 winch and Warn winch plate. It is rock solid. The Jeep has an AEV lift and 37's and I noticed only a modest amount of added weight while driving it after install. The...
