You should be fine bringing it home. Depending on the model you might want to bring a few hundred pounds of crap to throw in the front though. you will want to make sure you have some tounge weight there. You can do way better on a hitch, or if you are going to spend a grand get a better one...

I went to Edisto with 3 kids last year. I left the JT at home and took the van. Back of it was full and I had a roof carrier on top. JT would have needed a trailer, no way around it at all. Some overpacking by the kids, but honestly still more than a JT can hold.

True, it will be intersting to see how the dealers respond now that there is actually an OEM supported way of using the connector. They can claim user error or whatever when removing, but when you sell changable doors the case becomes harder.
