  1. More MPG confussion

Tire rolling resistance. It's never been popular to measure in the US, but many European testing outfits will test and publish it. The delta in rolling resistance between identical tire sizes from 20 different manufacturers can be 20%. That could easily create the variations you are seeing...
  2. Recommendations for mirrors when removing doors?

The Mopar were inexpensive and they've been reliable.
  3. Best soft ride springs

Agree with the above. Spend some coin on a set of quality adjustable shocks. You can turn them down to soft mush, and then when you grow tired of how terrible a ride that creates, you can find a good softly damped middle ground. Plus, adj. shocks will give you much better flexibility if you...
  4. Jeep Gladiator value in the toilet

Yeah, had to wikipedia that one.
  5. 3.6 epic failure

Clever. LOL. 100%, without fail. Except for the 30% of time when it only works 80% of the time, every time. But then it wouldn’t matter anyway.
  6. 3.6 epic failure

They make about 1 million pentastar every year. Probably 3-5M PUGs and 10-12M original, ~15M total production. It’s a triumph of engineering and manufacturing that there are so few failed. 1/10 of 1% failure, for any cause, would be 15,000 failed pentastar. The real number of failed pentastar...
  7. Potential Bent Front Axle out of no where. Opinions wanted.

And they allege the toe was dead-on and required no adjustment? For reference, many factory independently suspended cars dial in 2-3 degrees of negative camber from the factory. Inside tire wear, if camber related, would typically signal negative camber FWIW.
  8. Potential Bent Front Axle out of no where. Opinions wanted.

1 degree on a solid axle is a rounding error, and not consequential IMO. It seems you may be dealing with predators and scoundrels. That is why they cant find or show you what is "bent".
  9. Jeep Gladiator value in the toilet

My personal experiences force me to defend the late model Beemer and Benz reliability too. In reality, it's great that so many people have the impression that they are problematic --it keeps the prices heavily suppressed while creating a phenomenal value in the used market for people like us...
  10. My 2022 Gladiator burned down... how?

Not the intent. It's semantics, but I interpret being upside-down as having an obligation to a product or business transaction where the invested debt and/or equity position is higher than the current market value. That seems to be the case the OP is describing here.
  11. My 2022 Gladiator burned down... how?

We are losing the trees for the forest. You asked how a parked Gladiator which hadn't been driven in a long while and who's owner is wildly upside down on it, could suddenly and magically burn to the ground. Typically that situation is the result of an applied accelerant, a flame source, and a...
  12. Jeep Gladiator value in the toilet

Looking at BMW 7 series now. New 2023 = ~105 - $130k Used 2022 = ~$65-85k I guess it's all relative. I'm not entirely convinced prices will go back up either, shortage or not. The average Joe can't afford to buy and they certainly can't afford the interest rates. They think they...
  13. FOX shock replacement resolution form dealer is Bilstein shocks (for me)

Bilsteins have been the most reliable and best performing shocks overall, for me. The Fox brand have been disappointing and seems to have been made popular from the poser man-babies who wear straight billed hats at age 50, and make utube videos exclaiming the benefits of “narly shredding it”...
  14. Baxter Performance oil filter adapter

Food for thought, since the pentastar introduction in 2011, I believe more pentastar have been produced than any other engine. Can anyone point to a single pentastar failure attributed to lack of oil at startup? I’ve never seen one. The oil temp concerns are misguided. 230F oil is not...
  15. 3.6 Engine Tick

My dealer said they work on Pentastar the least of all the engines they sell. My sons friend who works for a Mopar dealer has said the same. Your SM is a charlatan who couldn’t cut it as a tech so he had to try showbiz and storytelling.
  16. Hmm, this is an interesting solution. No More Dry Starts

This is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. I squander lots of money so I won’t judge anyone if they wanna waste theirs on one of these. Canister filters are clownish too. You can’t check the media without unnecessary effort. Maybe some people just need an orange China Fram in their...
  17. Maverick to a Mojave

I don't hate the Maverick. I hate how expensive it is. I wish the average poor had the choice to spend $16-20k on an AWD Maverick rather than examples of the rolling human defeat like the Mirage, Kicks, or uniKorea. The Maverick would be the hands down best option dollar for dollar. Would...
  18. Value Train repair kit?

Way to go for posting the photos. That's outrageous. I have to agree that unless that EX side oil squirter is clogged, that is 100% a material failure resulting from a manufacturing defect. Is the rocker interface always in contact with the big lobe, and it simply does not become static...
  19. Value Train repair kit?

Interesting. This occasional big-lobe failure remains curios. Please post photos of the damage. It sounds like you are handy if you're going to repair it yourself. If you feel like providing additional data, I'd be interested in knowing: How much drive-time does your engine spend above 2800...
  20. Heavy Duty Cooling

That Jalopnik article is complete propaganda. Unless they completely misquoted the statements of this alleged lead thermal management engineer, I don’t believe he’s an actual engineer of any consequence on the Gladiator product. I agree with ShadowsPappa and Ecidiego on this one. Your fan...
