Another vote here for the Alu-Cab.
The ARE, Leer, and maybe other plastic/fiberglass don't play well with the soft top Gladiator roof, so we were limited to the metal caps with the flat front panels. Alu-Cab won over the RSI due to the lighter weight and one piece (no gaskets to leak)...
The Alu-Cab Canopy works. We gave up waiting to find a used cap, so we bought the Alu-Cab new from OK4WD in New Jersey.
We narrowed it down to a metal cap, and the Alu-Cab Canopy and the RSI Smartcap was at the top of the list. (GFC had a very long delivery RLD seems to be totally...
Thanks, dutch7, but we already checked out that M&M place in York, but they couldn't help us.
So, not really found, but we got tired of the looking and waiting. So we instead we bought a new Alu-Cab from OK4WD in New Jersey.
We now have an Alu-Cab Canopy (Alu-Cab's term for their bed cap), but I have strict instructions to make sure everything under the cap stays dry and dust free. Gotta plug them holes.
Thanks for the answer. Now I know the purpose of bedholes.
I would have thought Jeep would have put rubber plugs in those holes, but I guess they were trying to save a few pennies. So I guess I'll have to find my own rubber plugs.
My bed, maybe everyone else's beds, have two holes each side in the forward upper panel. I just wanted to know if they have some purpose, for example, for an option I don't have. I'll probably plug mine anyway.
Is there a sticker or placard on the Gladiator that gives the tow rating of that specific vehicle?
I checked the normal labels on the drivers door opening and nothing noted on the two labels.
The owners manual says that, for a diesel Rubicon Gladiator the GCWR (Gross Combined Vehicle Weight...
Does anyone here with a soft top and a SmartCap care to comment on your experience?
In a thread on the Alu-Cab the issue of wind noise and/or turbulence with Gladiator soft tops was brought up. Any wind noise and/or turbulence issues with the soft top/SmartCap combination?
I took have the Harbor Freight hydraulic crimper too, and I use it for 10 to 4 gauge crimps. It comes with dies for wire as big a 0 gauge. I waited for a 20% off sale to buy this tool in advance of my need.
For wires larger than 4 gauge I use a larger Chinese hydraulic crimp tool. I made a 4/0...
No aux switches, although I wanted them. But if you get the upgraded 8.4 inch stereo, which all Rubicons got in 2023, you get at least the 220A alternator. And the build sheet says 220A too.
I do have the 220A alternator that comes with the upgraded stereo, vs. the 240 that comes with the tow package vs. the 180A(?) that is the stock size alternator.
I have a late 2023 diesel Rubicon. I don't know if all the conversations talking about upgraded cooling fans apply to the diesels...
Exactly what was looking for, so thanks. This site gives the exact sizes, but not the grades of bolts.
Does anyone know the bolt grades? Or should I just assume metric grade 12.9? I may try to source these locally.
I just got a new takeoff Mopar 68334758AA receiver hitch without instructions or bolts.
So, to anyone has installed the Mopar receiver hitch, could you...
1. Photograph or scan the instructions, and
2. Make a list of the required nuts and bolts, including the hardware grade and sizes, and...
Any RSI SmartCap owners have Gladiators with soft tops?
I'm looking for reviews, comments, and pics. In particular we'd like to know about noise and whether there are any issues with fluttering of the rear window or even contact between the soft top and the cap. And how do you like the soft...
We just left a local Leer dealer. They called Leer and Leer's answer was that they don't recommend their cap for a Gladiator with a soft top. While their cap won't touch the soft top when parked, it's very close. Their concern was, at speed, that turbulence would cause the rear roof and the...
We are looking to fit a hard bed cap on to our JTDR with the Jeep soft top.
A local ARE dealer said that he ordered an ARE CX for another customer and it did not fit because the Jeep soft top was longer at the top than the Jeep hard top. He would have needed to slide the cap about 1-1/2 inches...
We just bought a new 23 Ecodiesel Rubicon for 26% under MSRP before fees and taxes. It was less than $3,000 to $5,000 more than used ones around here, but the peace of mind in getting a zero mileage vehicle with the full warranty and an unknown maintenance history was worth the extra.
Dealer...
Looking for a hard shell bed cap for our new to us diesel Rubicon within reasonable driving distance from Lancaster, PA. I figured we'd ask here first before buying new. Here's what it would be going on:
Prefer a metal topper to fiberglass, but will consider anything in between nearly new...
