This is the Brute of Dave Harriton, owner and founder of AEV, with (I believe) a custom bed frame. I would love this for the Gladiator, BUT if it could also accommodate for the stock OME tonneau cover for us East Coasters where it rains!!! I followed AEV for over a decade. I love their stuff...
I was just thinking the same thing! I guess I’m not the only one.
And the funny thing is, I was going to pitch it to AEV, because I like their safari rack on the Brute and was going to ask them to make it for the Gladiator but accommodate for the factory tonneau cover. Ha.
I was there before. I tried it once years ago and did not feel comfortable while they were in car seats. What I ended up doing is getting a JK with half doors and for years that’s all my kids know... they love it and I have no worries. I’m still hopeful about half doors for the Gladiator...
I think as long as you keep the base concept simple... the squarish Frame.... there are a million add-ons like this that can be added/sold in different configurations to meet the needs of different customers. Great idea. Kinda goes with the whole Jeep LEGO concept. I want the frame with the...
Oh and to make the original above even more versatile, when it’s just the frame, ie no top or sides them make adapters to attach bikes, kayaks, etc on top. so it’s multipupose two in one... a frame for carrying fun stuff OR an enclosed canopy to “protect” cargo inside from the elements.
Ok...
Thanks. Close but not the same. It should be completely boxy/squared off for a Jeep, and without those arches in the middle. None of these curves and slants. It should scream safari. More like the old military trucks. We can’t think of it as just another pickup truck. Just my 2 cents.
I had a JK for 10 years now with half doors which means the door locks are all manual as you describe (at least that’s how they made them 10 years ago), and you are right that you need to reach in from the front door opening and unlock the back door from inside. I didn’t have a problem with it...
We need a section on this forum dedicated to product requests, so manufacturers can see what we want. The Gladiator is a whole new platform. It’s not entirely a Wrangler and it’s not entirely a pickup truck. It’s something unique with potential for new ideas.
We need space where we can:
1)...
Someone make this product... by summer time :) Can someone photoshop this better?
A frame (one unit or in parts). Like this:
It could attach/fit like this maybe:
It should be removable altogether.
When on the Jeep, it can be as-is, or with just a soft top, or with soft top and sides, or...
In south NJ (all in the same vicinity):
- The Pine Barrens/Wharton State Park (a network of public Jeep trails through forest, mostly not difficult, flat, some mud holes, but can be avoided) - Home of the Jersey Devil
- In area:
- Kayak rentals and transportation to go down narrow twisty creeks...
I went to the first day of the Philly Auto Show today and took some pictures. The JT looks much better in person.
They only had the black Rubicon Gladiator with the hardtop, and it was on display. 40% of the time it was “guarded” and we couldn’t get close to it, but 60% of the time it was...

Exterior width is the same.
E.g. You know how the 2-door JL seats 2 people in the back? It is also the same width on the outside.
I noticed the rear seats on the JT are more bucket like while the rear seats in the JL are more flat. Making the center seat in the back narrower. Could be...
