The only conclusive answer I got from the lab was “the synthetic spike they look for is what tells them if the oil is full or semi. My sample wasn’t driven long enough @30k kms to tell. There was however a much smaller spike they saw and did compare it to other “known full synthetics”.
I asked...
I appreciate the explanation from all your years tearing down and rebuilding you’ve done and the science explained.
What is never discussed here dealing with these transmissions or any transmission quite frankly are the oil analysis reports. Why? Cause nobody does them.
For all the discussion...
What is your milage on the transmission? Is it the original transmission? Have you had a service/pan drop in all this time and were you watching transmission temps during the pull?
In my 128k km life of my 2021 JTR, I’m on my 4th auto transmission. I’ve experienced “whine” in all of them. I...
Well you can add my intervals being…. Once a year (approximately 30k kms) at about May, before our hot ambient temps kick in. Transmission has never seen temps 190+. Just because it can or the oil flash points are probably double + that, why would I want to see it or even push it there? Why...
I’ve looked all over for an exact O ring …no luck. I’m hoping someone else can and will confirm it. My O ring developed a flat spot where the leak occurred but then after taking the O ring out and setting it aside for a while, it self healed. I had since bought the new connector with the added...
You won’t know unless you try. What’s your milage at? “Just put up with it” or “it’s normal” is lazy ass suggestion from those that trade in before warranty tanks and they don’t actually care to help with anything that could help.
Then there’s the other ones like you that have invested a lot...
Cuz the summit racing report said coolant temps would drop so I ran a test and it proved right. Not that I needed to run cooler but I was trying an experiment for our diesel brothers and sisters navigate their derating problem and threw myself out there to help them.
As far as the thermostat...
I tested my coolant potency with the refractometer and the ethylene glycol column showed coolant @ 35% mix. Without having this tool, I was guessing and aiming for 35/65 coolant/water, not 50/50.
Having just done a flush a month or so ago, I also decided to try lowering engine coolant temps by...
@ShadowsPapa made a good point (you do make good points but this one is worth its weight in gold) checking the pH level of your coolant. Having a level of 7.0 + is alkaline, lower numbers is acidic.
In all my driving life which started in about mid 80’s, I’ve never looked at the pH of coolant...
If regular balancing doesn’t do the job, take it to the dealership and have them road force balance. If there’s a problem doing that, they’ll tell you which tire can’t be balanced.
