ShadowsPapa does highlight a concern that I have - if this is a cam issue, why does it only affect those with a 6MT? There have been incidents of JT owners with automatics that have suffered from advanced camshaft and follower wear, but they haven’t reported this noise. I agree that the...
Trust me, you are preaching to the choir. I am an engineer and used to be a heavy diesel mechanic before college. I used to own a used car dealership and have always done my own maintenance and repairs. I am consistently disappointed every time I have paid someone else to work on my vehicle...
You basically summarized the biggest reason I haven’t been back to my local dealer despite the persistent engine noise and the occasional squeak from my Mojave shocks. People love having a warranty but when the techs doing the work are inept and indifferent it’s a lot harder to bite that...
The TPMS on my JT is easily the most picky of any vehicle I’ve owned. Just a few psi is all that’s required for it to start nagging, and nagging, and nagging. This is made even worse by the fact that I liked my stock Mojave tires best at 34 psi, so any drop in temperature triggered the...
Same here, they are fantastic on my wife’s
Mercedes. I rarely get flashed in normal driving, but if I’m hauling anything in the back it’s constant. If it was the fun flashed like I get at the lake I’d be cool with it, but this flashing gets old after a while.:)
I’m not super well versed in the SBC so I tend to generalize them all as LS. But I know there’s a lot of options within that world. There’s a very good reason why they get swapped into anything and everything.
Really it’s just a question of when dealerships start seeing a hit to their volume and eliminating their stupid markups. It’s no longer hard to find most new cars if you shop nationally, eventually everybody will have to play ball.
We shall see. As somebody who doesn’t believe everything that CNN tells me I’m not convinced that EV anything will make substantial inroads in the USA for quite some time. The reality is that ICE is still better for most Americans. As for the Wrangler lets be real, most Wrangler buyers don’t...
The supply chain is finally catching up, while at the same time demand is slowing down. Inflation and higher interest rates are going to continue to put a damper on demand, most of the lots that I see are again full of cars and the dealerships are starting to advertise incentives again...
I was being slightly facetious, I don’t think our bureaucrats know any better than the ones in Europe. Personally I could care less, I have and would drive an old car daily without worry.
Makes you wonder if the rest of the world is just that far behind or if our bureaucracy is that much more overwhelming. Considering that I think driving fatality rates are actually lower in Europe I’m favoring the latter.
I could care less. Most of the crash and EPA tests are gamed by the manufacturers anyway. It’s why very few modern vehicles actually hit their window sticker MPG numbers, because the tests done accurately reflect real driving. I would happily drive something like a TJ daily if I didn’t need...
