I had the BFG KO2 and now the Recon's on both my JT and my RAM. On road, the Recons are great, but do not handle as well as the KO2s on the street. They also do not have the wet traction the KO2 did. It isn't bad, but definitely not as good.
Offroad, the Recons seem to have the edge on the...
I have had a CJ-7, a XJ, a WJ, a ZJ, a WK2, two JK's, and now a JT. For me, the JT is my favorite because of its utility and how it is setup from the factory with D44's and its towing ability. Number two would probably be the CJ (just because it was a CJ and I love them) or the WJ.
The WJ was...
- 5.7L V8 option (the 6.4L is great, but the 5.7L would still be my choice)
2ndly: A I-4 cylinder diesel, preferably Cummins instead of the current pile of crap
- Rear locker in lower trims than the Rubi
- Factory installed brake controller (so that you don't loose the cig lighter with...
#1: What is your budget? Once you get that figured, then you can choose a kit. Suspension systems are often "you get what you pay for" but that also depends on what you want. If it is a simple spacer kit to get a 2" level, that is a completely different ballgame than a full 3"+ kit.
I've...
I tow a 3,500-4,000lbs TT regularly with my setup in my signature. I set the cruise at 67mph on the highway with the 3.6L and it does pretty good. I am not running an anti-sway setup and don't need it, but the Clayton rear springs are BEEFY. I am running the Mopar plug and play brake controller.
I suggest getting rid of the aux battery all together...no more problems. Mine has been gone from shortly after buying the JT new. Obviously the start/stop no longer functions.
You can remove it fairly easily with basic hand tools and a 6 pack. There are many videos on YouTube that show it...
When I installed 37's, the Jeep still drove well considering the level of modifications, but I could ''feel" the steering was not up to the task anymore. Yes, it worked, but it would struggle a bit in parking lots and slow speed trails and on poor roads, the Jeep would hunt side to side.
I...
I am running Clayton 3.5" Overland rear springs and they got me more like 4.5". Even loaded with a bed full of gear and pulling this trailer, they are hell for stout and ride great. You can see from the two pics that even with that much weight, they don't sag much.
I went from stock on 32's, to a 2.5" on 35's, to a 3.5" lift on 37s that ended up being more like 5" of lift rear and maybe 4.5" front. I would not go smaller for sure.
Keep in mind, some lifts give more height than advertised, like Clayton.
I ran the 2.5" SJ spacer kit up front for a while, and I did because of HOW it was mounted, under the spring, not on top. It did its job and I used the Jeep for Jeep stuff.
It was actually shown under a JL but worked great and was very cost effective. My buddy that owns a Jeep shop, also...
I can't speak for the other kits, but I can say my buddy owns a Jeep specific shop and recommends this kit. He even put this kit on his massive JT and his wife's JL. In the last couple of months, he has installed about a dozen of these kits and is happy with them...and he has to warranty them.
Remove the aux battery all together...fairly simple to do and no more troubles other than the little warning indicator in the dash...haven't figured out how to get rid of that yet.
There is some good insight here and you understand the force vectors translating through the control arms to the frame and suspension. I have run drop brackets on a 3.5" system before that did not have them, and there was an improvement in stability and ride quality, but they hit stuff. They...
Personally, I have had good luck with Quadratec brand parts but take them for what they are. They are often an economical solutions of acceptable quality but not the best. They are not priced to be the best and fit in a nice place between expensive high end but better than the cheap stuff. I...
My Gorilla Glass was cracked all the way across the first morning of my Gladiator ownership. It didn't last 24 hours. The dealer could not get the exact replacement at the time, so I asked them for full window tinting and the regular windshield and they were happy to oblige.
A year later on...
