I have a 2021 Mojave with 24K miles - got the dreaded Aux switch unavailable battery charging on the dashboard - well 2 days later jeep completely dead and will not start - need to jump start it every day. I called dealer and made an appointment - earliest is 1 week away. Do you know if the batteries are covered under the 3yr/36mile warranty? The dealer said batteries are only covered under the 12m/24K. I can't seem to find any paperwork on warranty that states this.

@JeepCares would you be able to help? I bought my Mojave on 5/20/2021.

It's very disappointing to see batteries fail this soon. Thanks for any help.

I could be wrong, but I thought there was a section of the 21s that had shorter than expected battery life; if so, you might find some info in previous threads

If that is true, something changed then... on my 2020 Max Tow Sport I had the aux battery go well into my 2nd year of ownership and it was replaced no cost to me.

Dealership is wrong. Batteries are not listed on the 12/12K warranty exclusion. Therefore they are covered under the 3/36K Bumper to Bumper warranty. Plenty of people have had their batteries warrantied under the 3/36K warranty.

The following
items are covered only for one year or for 12,000 miles on the odometer,
whichever occurs first:
• Brakes (rotors, pads, linings, and drums)
• Bulbs
• Clutch Discs or Modular Clutch Assembly (if equipped)
• Wheel Alignment
• Wheel Balancing
• Windshield and Rear Window
• Wiper Blades

I have a 2020 launch edition. I hate the start stop so when I got the warning I saw it as a blessing. I drove for 2.5 years like that and brought it in the 35th month and the dealer charged both batteries. If they are Jenks about it go to a different dealer.

UPDATE: The dealer replaced both batteries under warranty and Jeep is back running!! The dealer did say the new installed batteries come with a 3yr/36K warranty - does that seem right? Glad to have the issue resolved. Should I turn off the ESS each time I dive the vehicle to save battery life on the Auxiliary battery?

You should go to the start stop page every now and then just to see if it says ready or battery charging assuming all other criterias are met. If it displays battery charging all of the time, it might be time to throw a battery charger on it. If it says ready fairly quick, that's a good sign. I'm not saying not to use Start Stop or to use it. Just use what you have like the system page for battery voltage before starting on occasions and monitor the start stop page. Good stuff on that page that can tell you why you didn't have a start stop event. It could prevent a no start just by letting you know the battery is charging all of the time. My guess would be that most of the no starts started with a battery charging message all of the time and progressed with other failures.

Whether or not ESS is allowed to operate has no effect on the charging or life of the batteries. The biggest killer is not driving it enough to keep the batteries charged.

It depends on the dealer and how they handle the warranty claims. Batteries purchased from the dealer should have some type of 36 month warranty. Batteries installed by the dealer for a warranty replacement usually only have coverage for the remainder of the warranty period.

Thanks - where is the start stop page located?

You will have to scroll through the pages on the dash using the buttons on the steering wheel. There you will see your battery voltage as well.

When you have a moment, select the start stop page and play with it a bit. Turn the steering, turn the ac on , unbuckle your seat belt. The ESS has a lot going on and monitoring your battery is one. Use it to your advantage even if you decide not to use start stop.
