WELL WELL WELL!!! I just finished my just-under-the-wire 2021 tax return and the refund was significantly larger than expected. Maybe I will spring for those Mickey Thompsons after all! (just kidding... sort of...)
I think I’m going to go ahead and order a set of Duratrac 35s. The price and the weight are really doing it for me. Since I don’t plan to regear my 4.10s, a lighter 35 is really appealing to me. What I REALLY want is some Baja Boss ATs, but they’re probably close to $400 more after USAA discount...
Between the tread life warranty, 3PMS rating, true-to-size specs on 35s, light weight and USAA discount, I’m having a hard time NOT ordering them. I keep looking for reasons to go with Nitto or Mickey Thompson, but I keep coming back to the Duratracs.
I see practically no severe winter weather...
I had enough left over to make a second, smaller one. It’s mostly the MyMedic Prevention except I’ve moved some items to the outside to make more room on the inside for other stuff, and then I gutted my another case to reuse some of the loops /pouches for even more stuff.
I’ll start by saying I have no dog in this fight. I’m just trying to learn….
By everything I see online, Duratracs are capable, light, affordable, and even 3PMS rated. So why aren’t more people driving them?
I have one mostly for the unexpected. I don’t intend to ever push my luck and intentionally put myself in compromising situations, but I could totally see myself being in unfamiliar territory and encountering an obstacle I didn’t know was there. It’s insurance.
The pack is from Amazon (sold by MediTac), but it’s basically the same bag that MyMedic used to use for their MyFAK large and still uses for the Construction Pro kit. I’ve hacked it a bit by adding Velcro in a few spots and repurposing the patches from another kit for easier way finding.
I’ve...
Not directly Jeep-related, but outdoors and overland related…
Got all the bits and pieces in to build my first aid / trauma kit.
It’ll stay under the rear seat for now. I eventually plan to get molle panels in the bed, at which time I’ll mount it back there near the tail gate along with the...
Here it is after adding the Velcro, straps, and patches I was talking about. I may add a bit more for extra storage in the in-between spaces, but this (a) allows for easier identification in a hurry and (b) keeps the fold-out pouches from flopping around when opening it so I can mount it...
Ok! So in the end, I kind of pieces together a custom kit from various MyMedic bits and pieces. I used 2 Prevention kits on clearance, and a number of packs and mods. Then I found the retired MyFAK Large case (still used in the Construction Pro kit) on Amazon through another seller. All in, it’s...
I have spent too many hours deciding on bag layout the past several days - which bag and how it’ll all go in. I cancelled the order on the hard case because it didn’t have good internal storage (though maybe I could fix that with some modification). And I received another bag but it’s garbage so...
lim looking into training - probably online to start and then in person if I still feel like there are major gaps. I intend to carry only those things I know how to use.
I’ve completed my orders, and now I’m just waiting for it all to arrive.
Mymedic has a Prevention kit on clearance for half off, and it has a relatively wide (if not deep) range of supplies so I ordered two of those. Then I supplemented with the Ready Med Pack which is a trio of med packs for...
