Reviving an old thread, but this is similar to what I want to do. Namely, put 35s on the stock Rubicon wheels.
Will dealership or tire shops give me grief if I say “I know it says 8.5” minimum put it on anyway.”?
My neighbor is a mechanic and has all the equipment to do this in his garage, so...
Got mine back this morning after a TSB service (and oil change + rotation).
Immediate thoughts: drives better, tighter, less wander. I know we usually talk about the issue at highway speed, but I tend to notice it more at lower speeds and around town. Today felt much better.
I couldn't tell...
Must be a regional/location thing. I see 5-10 a day! There are 4 in our small town (including mine). My wife and I spent the weekend wheeling in the San Juans and saw several Gladiators on Engineer Pass. We were also stopped by a few curious Wrangler owners who were interested in the Gladiator...
I usually have a dog in the back seat in a burrito type dog bed. I'll definitely be running fronts off, backs on this summer. Don't want her jumping or sliding out!
Awesome, thanks! I'll check it out.
I just have the old Coleman that everyone has tucked in their garage somewhere. Its fine for an overnight but drops off quickly in a multi-day trip. Like you I'm not moving toward the Dometic fridge or anything like that anytime soon. Cost aside, I also don't...
That's definitely an aftermarket tonneau. I have the mopar/factory tonneau, and it is substantially different than that one.
So yes, someone bought the truck and decided to add an aftermarket tonneau. There are lots of reasons someone might do that - price, preference, truck on the lot was...
Selfishly, I'd love for this to have about a 4 year run and be done.
But - I expect it to be around a long time. Solid sales numbers, and based on the nearly daily conversations I have with strangers about it, there are no shortage of people interested in the JT.
IIRC, turns off the lights on the license plate. Many people find it hard to see anything at night on the back-up camera due to glare from those lights.
Looking over the list carefully, to me there are two adds to the mini over the lite that make it worth the cost (if you're buying the lite anyway):
* TurnCam (turns on the rear camera when changing lanes - great if you have stuff in the back blocking the rear view)
* Axle Lock control (Rubicon)...
I have two vehicles - a VW Golf and the Gladiator. The JT is much newer. When we bought it I decided to put 87 in it (following manufacturer recommendations). In the Golf we put in 85 (but yes, it also is recommended to use 87, and we ignore that).
I agree with you I've never had a problem with...
Anyone figure out how to mount rotopax on the side molle panels? I've read that they'll only work on the front panel but I don't fully understand the issue.
PSA for those traveling through Colorado, Wyoming, etc - you should still use 87 here, even though "Regular" here is 85. The 85 rule is a leftover from carburetor days, where it made sense to have a lower octane given lower oxygen density (if I understand correctly). Modern fuel injected systems...
When I was a kid my parents bought 10 acres in east Texas. We had a great time slowly clearing the land with machetes, chain saws, and our truck. For the first year we slept in a big canvas tent on a wood foundation we built. The second year we had a pop up camper. Took two years of weekend...
Yeah, the guys I've seen going this method are primarily using heated blankets, not full on heaters. The jackery site says a heated blanket could go like 22 hours. And I've always seen them putting out the solar chargers. As I understand it, they have it plugged in the back seat charger when...
