I was also one of the first to buy a Gladiator on Guam. It was a challenge to see how efficient I could be with shipping. I built the trucks axles, as stated in the video, because the advantek has not seen a lot of use yet. It's still relatively untested. It's not like jeep forums of old where...
You haven't seen the prices on Guam. I added ARB Lockers, forged 35 spline shafts, 4.88 gears, disconnects, switches, fenders, rockers, winch, bumpers, suspension for <8k and still have 22k in my pocket compared to nicely optioned rubi on Island. ?
This ad is from today. ?
I can't speak for him but in my build my axle shaft is thicker at 1.5 inches compared to rubicons 1.35. 35 spline and big as a dana 60. The rubi is 32 spline and thinner. The axle bearings are much larger as well. Definitely a must if 40s are on there for the long term.
I dont get worked up over that stuff. I think we compare it because everyone want or asks is it a rubicon. Like you already know the answer but it doesn't matter because it doesn't have the sticker. But then I show them my work, and my pictures, and what the inside of the axle looks like and all...
It's not so much the hours into the jeep. It's the hours I have spent researching, editing, and making how to videos that adds up. I do that for darn near free. I wish I got paid for that. But to answer your question, on average a few hours a week, with month long hiatus in-between. My full time...
It's really not. I installed all the parts myself. I measured the axles and passed on the knowledge to others. Had custom stuff made. Built a community. Its more than just the comparing things. I love the rubicon but it's done in all these areas.
It's really the community and giving people...
Thank you, that is really what I was looking for. Someone who has built it like me.
You can do a lot and still be no where near the cost of other models. The purpose is to take a Jeep and make it your own. It's like giving a box of Legos to a kid. Each kid you give it to will build it their...
Naahh
It's subgroups. Just like jl guys are different than jt guys. We fall into our niche. The question becomes who builds their jeep and who buys their jeep already built. Just different flavors for different types of people. This is really about sports but I can see how it might offend the...
I wanted to share in my approach to building a sport. Rubicon is awesome for sure but wanted to see what others are coming up with and share mine while we are at it.
This has been a question on here for more than a year. I know its been talked about like a million times but I think I built a rig that has more capability dollar for dollar. The only thing left to do is get a low range box but rather than do that with a Rubicon swap (many of my parts are dealer...
That's the same spot I had it on my TJ for many years. The directions clearly state hot locations are ok. What it says is not a good location is next to the exhaust, which is where most put it. Then go on to spend money on a bracket that puts it next to the cat. Now that is a bad spot.
Thank you. It has taken about a year to get all the details and to have real accounts of the axles internals but here it is. I hope the community takes off with this like you see in the obsessed Jeep Wrangler Community. We seem to be a bit sleepy around here compared to them. LOL
Gears, Lockers, even the first ever 35 spline shaft upgrades. Now all in one place. I hope this helps Jeepers for years to come and to help new Jeep owners to understand why axles are such a big deal and require a lot of money for gear installs. This is for the Sport and Rubicons as the gears...
Got a new part to play with. The shackles in this category were sometimes over a hundred bucks but I found this stout little thing. Protects the winch line and acts as an extra eyelet for the winch to connect to. Hope you guys check out this Smittybilt Shackle Install.
Hey all,
This is the first time I am commenting on anything warranty related but I wanted to share my story. I have had quite a few issues and the dealer has been great. I hope you all enjoy my story. I had problems, but there is hope. Stay positive, make lots of stops at the dealer and enjoy...
