  1. This purchase worried me for a while - ZF Friedrichshafen AG

" If the politicians mean what they say " Good luck with that.
  2. Police Spot Light

There is a plethora of very good flashlights and hand held spots that work well which are not visual warts when not in use. M2c.
  3. Dealer Oil Change Issue

Horse poop. An accurate level check comes after the engine has been off long enough for the oil to drain completely into the pan. Drain it cold-that is when the contaminates are sitting quietly in the sump In my experience, no. Honda contracted with Valvoline to provide 55G drums of their oil...
  4. Is there some kind of 'rivalry' with Tacoma owners??

Add in the "energy drink" dependency and no wonder road rage is a problem.
  5. Dealer Oil Change Issue

I trust no one. That way, I have no conflict with expectations and results.
  6. language

When adressing a group I use the term "Folks". I really do not give a RA about the modern pronoun crap but some basic rules of engagement seem to have been dicarded. It also seems only guys/males have responded. BTW, it was the wife who first had the twisted knickers.
  7. Poor Confused Bronco

Back when the Japanese bikes started coming over, they were knocked for being cheap and un-reliable. Since Japan was a country without many natural resources, the engineers designed every thing with the minimum material necessary for the task. Mods resulted in less durability and more failures...
  8. Any good detectives out there?

"Ward, don't be so hard on the beaver" said Mrs. Cleaver.
  9. language

Not trying to offend any one, just a general assessment. The wife and I go out for a meal. The waiter or waitress come up and says "Hi Guys". Hold it right there, I am a Guy and she is a Gal. Masculine and Feminine. It may seem minor to most but the misuse of these terms is getting to be beyond...
  10. Possible legality issues with a stubby bumper

I first left the USA in 1979 bound for Incerlik, Turkey. First stop-Rome with armed military guards every 20 feet or so on both sides of the concourses. Istanbul was the same with a bit of crowd chaos. Times were tough then. The Iranians caused some problems a bit later. Yeah, some of us Yanks...
  11. Rust, does anybody make aftermarket accessories that don't rust.

You are fighting a loosing battle. Unless you prep, prime and use marine grade paint, your steel, even stainless over time, will return to the earth from whence it came.
  12. Any good detectives out there?

I have been using a GAMO break barrel .177 gas cylinder pellet rifle on the squirrels. Over 1000 fps with a 10 grain pellet and drops them like a stone. They are smart and wary. I get up early anyways and I can usually bag 1 or 2 every morning as the replacements filter in. Easier spotting...
  13. What should I tell the dealership to get second steering box TSB fix?

Tell the truth, always. It is a slippery slope once that little white lie becomes accepted behavior. But what do I know? My parents must have been exceptions.
  14. Oracle Flush Mount Taillights Arrived Today

One brand come out with a feature, person A buys it, person B covets the feature and soon, no one can live without it. It seems we used to be more aware of our surroundings and less reliant on the dubious clams from the safety Kens and Karens.
  15. Anyone add wider fenders to their Gladiator?

There are fenders and then there are flares. IMO, the fender is attached to the body and the flare is that narrow lip that is part of the liner. Trying to explain that to the judge and jury is another matter. Tires that extend past the outer edge are banned for good reasons.
  16. Possible legality issues with a stubby bumper

Two things. 1)All laws vigorously enforced via yearly safety exams and a look over at traffic stops. 2)Out of state vehicles are to comply with the state of registration and are allowed in other states with different regs. Once outside of your home country? When in Rome...
  17. Relocating the scissor jack?

We just returned from a week long Edisto Island vacation. My kit was one gym/duffle bag, stunt kite collection, a camera case and I was over packed. She had enough items to fill the F150 bed almost to the top. Over half was untouched except for loading and unloading. I cannot imagine doing this...
  18. Gas mileage is concerning..

My YJ, 4.0, 5 speed manual was very consistent at 17 MPG. 2 inch body lift with those huge for the time 33's. City or highway up to 70mph. The 3.6 may be a bit more efficient by making do with less displacement but it still requires a specific amount of torque to perform the same amount of work...
  19. Current opinion of the Bronco?

I too am that dyed in the wool Ford person, just not the New Age stuff. Too many farkles. After the economy sorts itself out, a sport will come home.
