The KTM is my choice. I have been wrenching, riding and owning motorcycles for 50 years. I recall the rabid "Made In America" mantra from the hd folks. With Oriental seals and bearings, Denso guages, NGK plugs and Japanese Dunlops they really were ignorant in the ways of the world. That Italian...
I inherited all of the plates from dad"s vehicles and some of mine, 1960-present. (One is a 1925 SC). Back then, plates were re-issued every year, no decals. Do not know why, but in the 60s, having a tag with a "C" followed by numbers was some sort of thing. Dad, being a Ford salesman, could...
Two days ago I was the first/lead vehicle at the intersection and a "homeless" person was dunning for money. Being me, I ignored him. He walked back a couple of cars and I kept eyes on him. When the light went green, we moved off but he whips out a cell phone and leans over to photo the rear of...
I really liked the Honcho full size back when but they had, ahem, a very cheap feel to them. To be fair, all trucks then were utility engineered. These days, they are a Texas Lexus. (I could also get a Ford GT40 for $6995.00 in 66)
Some years ago Dad accompanied a prospective buyer on a test drive. The "tester" drove onto the highway. After a mile he pulled over, pulled out a gun, orderred Pops out and drove off. It was only after Dad passed that we learned of the incident from a church buddy. He did not want Mom to know...
The rear window is definately a wart as delivered. A while back I proposed a roling track type of mechanism like the hatches on the ISS. It would slide forward, parallel to the opening for an inch or so, then as it is pushed or powered up, the top/leading edge rotated forward with the entire...
Seems to be a fair amount of Buyer's Remorse from some folks who did not do enough research before the purchase coupled with a lot of assumed "facts" on design and physics. After all, the door jamb decal is only a suggestion, right?
Overall, these are not full size work trucks. They are, in stock form, perhaps the best vehicle for unpaved roads in sloppy conditions. A Unimog they are not. They are the culmination of what the designers wanted-A Wrangler with more cargo space hanging in the breeze. Need to do more than...
Due to manufacturing and assembly practices, that "New" battery may have been activated a year or more before sale. No trickle charge. Another issue is the service monkey not properly charging the freshly filled battery. Combine the two and you may be lucky to get 18 months on a 5 year unit.
Sign of the times, friend. The lack of reading and comprehension skills these days is part of the reason I retired from teaching. When every male and female person is referred to as a guy, we are doomed. A few more generations and we will have folks throwing rocks at the moon trying to knock off...
And the bead un-locked. Several DOT regs violated of which a smart lawyer would point out should there be a trial. I am surprised no one at the insurance company caught them-you know how "they" love to deny any outflow of money from the coffers.
Tires used on public roads must be DOT Certified. A code is moulded into the sidewall. The other person's lawyer will know eventually. I buy surplus, usually insignificant things like ammo.
The best thing is to vary the rpm. Connecting rods stretch. Those folks that never exceeded 50% of max rpm were the ones that became oil burners once the engines were run up to max/redline after the "500 mile" break in. Modern materials and assembly have improved reliability. After 20 -30...
