Its HMMWV (born in 1983)...and no, they haven't been around as long or longer...and they're a GM product anyway.
But there is some Irony in the most patriotic US vehicle being owned by a company in Amsterdam, lol.
Yeah slightly overstated...however - if I was buying today for a wheeler, this is the order I'd buy
Wrangler
Gladiator
Bronco
And while I wouldn't even consider a 2dr a viable option for...anything. I have to put them @ 4 on the list, since nothing after it can out wheel it.
As for being...
100% of flops and rolls are driver error, lol. I can take you wheeling to spots that my JT and JK will make that 2dr Jeeps won't make.
So thats apparently my #2 unpopular position...2 dr Jeeps suck, even offroad.
Flop/roll risk is much higher. Cargo space is garbage. Ride quality is for shit.
There's a reason any real offroader stretches any 2dr they have. Hell, even Jeep did it with the LJ.
I should def do more wheeling. ;). 2dr Jeeps are highly overrated (and incorrect) for wheeling and being the better footprint. They're the worst footprint for offroading, even dangerous.
But the real point is...you went to extremes with your replacement models.
Really the only thing the Wrangler has over the JT is the footprint. And as you lift the JTs and add tires that is reduced quite a bit...even some obstacles showing the JT is better.
Outside that...the JT has more cargo space, rides better, has better axles across the board (only model with...
The Gladiator is the BEST Jeep ever built, even over the Wrangler. It checks more performance boxes over the Wrangler than the Wrangler does over the JT.
